Mushie v danish, who's better??

Which of these 2, assuming both are in their peak is the better leg spinner??? I always loved watching mushie bowl and will never forget how he tormented engalnd in the early nineties, but danish turns the ball a lot more and gets good bounce and has succeded against the best so far. I personally think danish is better in terms of pure ability but the charm of mushie makes him my favourite and now in england he has earned the love and respect of all the counties.

I think it's a bit silly to compare Mushie's prime with Danish's...Danish is still comparitively a newbie!

Mushie had more variety but less of a control...Danish has control that even shames some of the best ever.

I personally rated Qadir better than Mushie...so in a few years, we can compare Qadir with Danish

Danish already pips the older genius with his brilliant performences in India, Australia, and WI...three countries where Qadir didn't achieve much success

You could say danish is at his peak now, so danish on current form and mushie on top form. I think you can compare them as danish is only 50 test wickets behind mushy's career total!!

Haven't seen much of Mushie so i can't really say who the better bowler is. Danish bowls too many "hit-me" balls for my liking.

He might get better, but out of his whole career so far, right now he is definitely bowling better than he ever has in international cricket. You give the impression that he is bowling crap, have you seen how well he has done for pakistan agaisnt top players of legspin recently, if you have seen his recent bowling in internationa cricket, he is bowling BEAUTIFULLY.

Number of wickets does not define one's peak...Danish has had a few easy wickets at the start of his career and that's why he is catching up quickly with Mushie!

In my opinion, it will take him another couple of years, and a few visits to all the test playing countries (experiencing various playing conditions) to be at the top of his game...Leg Spinners usually take much longer to establish and mature BUT they can go on for a longer time period too

Just look at Warne
.

I always thought early in his career, Mushtaq was a little unfortunate to be playing when the two W's were decimating teams in the early 90s. It was a point noted by Derek Pringle:

Quote:
Playing in the same Pakistan side as Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis did him few favours as it meant reverse-swing was the main tactic of attack. When teams did put up enough resistance for him to have a decent bowl, the two-tone appearance of the ball - dark and damp on one side, light and scuffed on the other - made it easier for batsmen to pick him.
Mushtaq's best years were between 1995 and 1998 - when the two W's were not quite as lethal as they were in the first part of the decade - especially Waqar. The best thing about him during those years was that he was able to take wickets away from home. He bowled as well as Warne during that 1995 series in Australia - and that is the highest praise I can pay him. In fact his style of bowling - slow through the air - was helped by the faster pitches overseas.

His last great Test performance was at Durban in 1998 when he spun Pakistan to a famous victory. After that match he never performed to the same level.

Returning to the question, it is hard to compare the two bowlers at their peaks, because Kaneria probably has not reached his yet.

Instead I would agree with Big Mac's assessment that

"Mushy but Danish has the potential to be better given time"

One thing I have noted about Kaneria, is a great sense of self-belief and determination even when he is getting hit for runs.

Mushtaq probably wilted a lot more easily when he came under sustained fire. He was still a terrific bowler though, and now he has become an immensely popular cricketer for Sussex.

considering danish is a newbie and battled lara face to face eventually getting the better of the best player of spin...i would say danish will undoubtedly become probably one of the best or the best leg-spinner pakistan has ever had...the fact he's already being compared against mushie speaks volumes...

YOu cannot judge yet, because when Mushy was torturing english bat, he was at his prime, or near it. In my opinion, Kaneria is no where near his prime and we have only seen the tip of the iceberg. The best is yet to come.

Kaneria wont hit his best form until the next decade which is frightening!!
As for Qadir - his impact on the game has been huge and will always be my fave!!
Amazed how similar Mushy and Danish are in their action - only really came to me seeing Mushy for Sussex - it is their different builds that had thrown me off-scent.
Kaneria will be better than Mushy should he learn the lesson - dont abuse ur variations.

Mushy wins by a country mile. he was awesome in early-mid 90s.. i remember in a series in australia he took 19 wkts in 2 test matches and outbowled shane warne. he detroyed england for fun in 1992/6 and also was superb in 1992 world cup.

absoloute no contest.
