Happy Memories for Pakistan at 1st test Venue Galle
Sri Lanka have a decent record at Galle when it comes to Test cricket. They have won 6, Drawn 4, lost 3 of the 13 test played at this venue.
In recent times though its not been to postive a venue for the hosts. The last 5 tests at this venue has seen 3 draws and Victories for Tourists India and Australia. Pakistan have played 1 test at this venue in 2000 and gave Sri lanka a royal pasting! I remember Saeed Anwar playing a gem of an Inns and was one of 4 pakistan batsmen to score a hundred. Abdul Razzaq also got a test hat-trick. Link - http://www.cricinfo.com/slvpak2009/e...tch/63886.html Hopefully more of the same for pakistan in a few days time! |

Is anyone going?
Sri Lanka is a fantastic country to visit, and it's the cheapest country to go and watch cricket for anyone based in Europe, too. No need for a visa for stays of less than 30 days, no need to book accommodation or tickets ahead, just jump on a plane and go. I wish all tours were like that! |

Lol Big Harvey- I was one of the few Pakistanis that went to Old Trafford test 2006 on 1st day- 119 ao- that when ranked no2 in world in tests. Ok no Shoaib, Asif or Rana BUT no excuse for batting.
Hardly anybody turned up there- hardly likely Pakistanis will travel out to SL |

It looks like might be problems with pitch/conditions at Galle which may affect match...
http://www.dailymirror.lk/DM_BLOG/Se...px?ARTID=53535 Meanwhile it has also been reported that at an emergency meeting it was discussed to shift the first Test from Galle to Dambulla due to wet conditions but the plan was shelved after some officials became worried that it would amount to a tribute to former SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala who built the stadium. But SLC denied Dambulla was discussed. “We looked at options like the SSC but Dambulla was not one of them. The match will be played in Galle as originally scheduled”, said SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga. |
