Cricketers who quit in style

Just read a cricinfo article about cricketers who quit in style making people ask why as opposed to why not. These are the cricketers mentioned:

* Younis Khan (Pakistan)
* Bill Ponsford (Australia)
* Sunil Gavaskar (India)
* Neil Harvey (Australia)
* Len Hutton (England)
* Greg Chappell (Australia)
* Dennis Lillee (Australia)
* Rod Marsh (Australia)
* Imran Khan (Pakistan)
* Bill Woodfull (Australia)
* Mike Brearley (England)
* Roy Fredericks (West Indies)
* Sourav Ganguly (India)
* Gary Kirsten (South Africa)

Half of the above were pensioners or well passed it!

The rest played well before I was born so I cannot comment.

But Lillee - anyone see him playing at the end??? Brearly was a 100 when he started playing! Imran - retired in the 1980s but was forced to come back! Ganguly spent 2 years playing when the rest of India said he was well passed it!

And Younis Khan has just stepped down from T20 - he is STILL ACTIVELY playing and will do for a few more years!

And so on....

Rubbish article in all honesty

Yes, I did.

He retired from internationals at age 34, even though he could have kept going as Australia's third seamer for probably two more years. An amazing bowler, who would have been the first to 400 test wickets had he not spent two seasons playing for Packer (where he got 80 "test" wickets against excellent opposition).

Gavaskar? That's more tragedy than glorious. He fell four short of a century and got out so close to endgame against pakistan for a rare series win.

Uh Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath?

Has the writer been living under rock somewhere for the last few years?
