Kulasekara & Anwar Ali

Just an observation. Both of these guys seem to be very similar type of bowlers in my opinion. They both have similar acations and can swing/seam the ball in to the right-hand batsmen. The only difference is that Kulasekara can now bowl an outswinger, which keeps the batsmen guessing hence he is taking wickets. Anwar Ali on the other hand has a great inswinger but i have yet to see him bowl an outswinger. In terms of pace Kulasekara might be ahead marginally. The point of my thread is that i really hope Anwar Ali can develope a few more varieties, which willl pay dividends for him and Pakistan cricket in the future. BTW both of them can bat a bit as well.

Yeah both their actions are similar , Although Anwar ali delivers the bowl wide from over his head for natural big in-swing while kulasekkara uses his wrists more and I was surprised to see that kulasekkara can also outwing it too .

I think Anwar ali has better pace then kulasekra but he just need some time to learn,,kulasekara is around at international level from last more then 3 years i think,,he learnt lot being the part of the team,,
if Anwar get chance to spend 6 to 8 month with team he will b lot better then kulasekara ,,,

i guess swing bowlers with medium pace simply can't be one dimensional. I mean look at Younis Khan as he seems to swing both ways. Even if it's slight movement but very effective. This is where i think coaching comes into play. Aqib or any other bowling coach should work with young guys like Anwar and develop these variations. It would also help a great deal if PCB produces more green tops for these guys to apply themselves and really work on their skills rather than simply bowling fast. I really hope to see him ODI squad soon.

Totally wrong! Anwar can bowl out swingers as effective as Kulasekara and we all know how good his inswinger is and plus he is well ahead in terms of pace as Kulasekara hardly hit 130kish while Anwar operates around 135Ks plus and last but not the least Anwar Ali's batting can not be compared to a nearly tailend batsmen Anwar now scoring ton in Uk league in which the avg batting scores are like 150s.

sure you can call him to be one of your domestic best i have no problems with that but calling him better than kulasekara is just downright blind and wrong!!

Actually no itsnt if you have watched them closely then even a fan (not a critic) can say that Anwar is quite a bit better than Kulasekara.

Because Karachi players are generally consider a crap and it takes earth shattering performance from a Karachi player to get noticed even in the A side (unless you are a Bhanja or some strong lobby behind you) As I havent seen a single Karachi player get selected based on his domestic performance.

When will anwar ali get a chance in our team. I can't understand rao iftakhar keep on getting selected and bolwers like anwar ali keep on getting ignored. May be its true that its really hard for someone from karachi to make it in the team or maybe its just bad luck.

Saad - I really dont understand your point here buddy. I think every Pakistani would want the best in the team regardless of their background or where they come from. I certainly dont doubt Anwar Ali's talent and i would love to seem him in the team at some point. The point of my thread was that Klusekara seems to be a very good bowler and Anwar Ali is very similar to him hence should be considered for selection.

don't think anwar ali is ready yet and even if he is, he's got got quite of guys he has to battle with in Umar Gul, Mohammad Aamer, Rauf, Sohail Khan, Mohammad Talha and im not including asif and akthar.

Don't think its his time now and has nothing do with lahore/karachi/toba tek crap. If you want to make a big deal in that sense than, why isn't Nasir Jamshed selected ahead of Khurram Manzoor. I'll agree Fawad is unlucky but don't think it has anything do with the fact that he's from karachi, the selectors are just blind.
