PCB faces financial problems

PCB faces financial problems

LAHORE: A bio-mechanic expert, hired by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) three months back, has threatened to drag the PCB to court for non-payment of salaries and a contractual breach.
The Board is in the grip of a financial crisis as it still awaits the earnings from the Pakistan and Australia One-day series in Abu Dhabi and Dubai held in April-May owing to some contractual issues.
Well-informed sources in the Board said things had gotten so bad that even the contractor's who were working on the construction of a new enclosure/block at the Gaddafi stadium at Lahore had started complaining about not getting their dues.
"The expert was hired three months back but he has not been paid his salary as yet and worse the director human resources recently told him his services were no longer required. The man has now threatened to go to court," the source said.
But another source said the financial health will improve soon as Pakistan will get a hosting fee of $750,000 from the ICC from the Champions Trophy in September plus share from the T20 World Cup.
Board employees have been complaining and grumbling in recent months as the Board Chairman has held back payment of annual bonuses to the employees as well due to the financial health of the board.
To complicate matters the board has spent thousands of dollars and rupees on paying legal fees to the London-based law firm DL Piper for handling the legal case against the ICC over the 2011 World Cup and also to Tafazzul Rizvi for handling the cases in the local courts pertaining to the ban on Shoaib Akhtar and the shifting of the World Cup secretariat," one source said.
He said the Board was also involved in legal battles in Karachi with the taxation department over payment of taxes.
............................
We need a person with managment skills not cricket skills when it comes to run PCB...so stupid that its been 62 years and we haven't realized this.

There was an article last week on cricinfo that payment of $2 million??? for T20 WC will be delayed for Pak, SL and WI (I think) because they didn't submit their audit report

well, if PCB stops donating so "generously" in the special "president fund", then they might have some money for the real deserving ones.....
