Fasting in Norway 20 hours in 2009

Did you know that the number of hours in Norway this time of the year is 20 hours.

Muslims in Norway will be fasting 20 hours a day for 30 days

Starting with 16 hours here in Germany.

I am interested to know if there is any ruling/fatwa/ijma about fasting in such extrame locations? In few years time we will have about 19 hours a day. Further north in sweden/norway/finland/russia it will be almost 24 hours light. I guess muslims living there move somewhere else for a month.

In places where daylight/darkness lasts for about 24hrs or longer, people schedule their days just as the rest of the world. The only difference is that they go to sleep while it is still bright or go to work while it is still dark.

So it makes sense to schedule your fast/salat according to your other habits.

I guess it depends on whether you follow the letter of the law or not (i.e. from sunrise to sunset) or do you interpret it based on your situation.

Personally looking forward to Rozay this year. The hardest i will have to face as yet.

My goal for the rozay complete my Taravi at a local mosque. My reward will be a new Sheesha Bong!

On a serious note i really hope the orzay will provide me with a much needed soul cleanse.
