What Takeway Did you Have Today...

Easy... this thread is to get my taste buds flowing and ideas on what to have when getting something from any takeaway shop.

If you have a takeaway or even ate in, feel free to state what you had, how much it cost and from where. And of course how filling and tasty it is. Pictures are welcome also.

Il start off...

Lamb chops, grilled on charcoals from the Grill House, Luton. 4 peices, with salad and mint and red chilli sauce tubs. £5.

Take them home, and eat them with 3 rotiahn, salad and chutney, absoluteley delicious, my favourite and best take out dinner, pretty costly for one person though, especially when ones on JSA.

Wow!
To help you cut down, why dont you have 'home take-aways'? Make a pizza at home, a good curry at home. You know what goes into it so its a little healthier and its cheaper. Then slowly slowly cut down. Plus do exercise, if you jog, run etc then it wont matter if you have take-aways.

It's Friday and the favourite take away after Jumma is either the cape gatsby on the 'bunny chow'. I prefer the bunny chow which I will enjoy after prayers

One of South Africa's favourite take away is 'bunny chow'

A hole is dug in a quarter loaf of bread and usually spicy food is placed in the hole.

This is in London, and it's the name of a burger chain.

But Gourmet in itself is a particular style of food, essentially a 'premium product'. Again Falafel is quite a popular now around even outside Arab/North African restaurants.

So no linkage with Pakistan, but I'm sure there are restaurants in Pakistan which also use that name.

I knew you were talking about London. Intially I thought that it might be related to Pakistan Gourmet (Sweets and Restaurant) but you cleared everything that it is not related it is just a burger chain with similar name.

you don't have a BBQ grill at home? Spend that $40 and get a grill. Some prefer charcoal one and they can be even cheaper. Gas ones are more expensive and maybe $90 but much easier. I got a charcoal one and I don't use it often because of lighting up the coals and getting them ready. Buy a chicken and put it on the grill. You have the meal for 2-3 people for $5

Yaar, we tried home barbecue in the summer, its so much hassle and costly, the coals are lit and heated with the aid of whitespirit or barbecue lighter fluid, so the meat tastes and smells of that stinking chemical as well. And is well costly, cause i aint heating £5 coals then not grilling £20 worth of meat.

The grill house mix grill is the best barbecued food ive tasted in me life.

You are doing it wrong then. Meaning not letting the charcoal actually be really lit and turning gray with some red showing and the lighter fluid will be gone. You cannot put the food right after lighting it and if you let the charcoal actually be burning first there will be no smell. This takes about 20 minutes (last stat but charcoals were old so maybe an issue and I had to put the fluid twice). That is why I said the gas one is much easier. You light it up with a knob and is ready in 10 minutes and shut it off when done and there are no burning charcoal left. Taste is not much different. A tank is like $10 and good for probably 10 grills. On gas one if you were to make a hamburger, it will take about the same time as you driving 5 miles to a shop, ordering stuff and brining it back.

Plus with charcoal you need to be a little master as regulating coal heat is harder. To start you have to have the coal on one side also and then it gets easier. With gas you turn off one side if you have two burners

I don't think I could have so many takeways.. It all sounds good, but too frequent and it loses it's charm.

Well if you are talking about Quesadilla then atleast there is a name that you can pay an extra dollar. I will expect some meat like chicken in it for $3. For a tortilla with cheese, make them at home and for $3 you can have 3 of them if not more. It will take 5 min at most

Nice, I remember once a KFC near my area also went Halal (but for short period of time, afterwards it became Haraam). But who cares if it became Haraam. We have Popeyes which is much better than KFC (in my opinion)

Any luck TAK on finding a proper halal chicken or halal venison? I would not mind using these in cooking.

dblock you may already know this but the chicken at Gourmet Burger Kitchen is Halal. It is not openly displayed but they will produce a Halal certificate if you enquire.

I may be mistaken but I think that a Pakistani owns this chain of burger bars.

Chunky Chicken- Manchester- Peri Peri chicken burger-£3

Best burger I've ever eaten much better than KFC. It is seriously the best the chicken us flame grilled. It's a booming business 40 framchises to open elsewhere. I never liked dixy or chicken cottage. So was skeptical about this but this is really tasty.

Everyone I've recommended it to has come back and said it is the best burger they have ever had. I don't really like the other things they offer.
