16 Man Squad for a 3 ODI Series ?

Anyone else completely baffled by this ?

In particular, there are 6 fast bowlers when we only use 3 per match.

Also consider that we have 3 openers when we only use 1 specialist opener alongside Kamran.

Dunno how YK and Inti are gonna sort through this but I'd be inclined to rest Gul and Aamer for the back to back Test series we are playing immediately after this tour.

As for the openers .. I guess Farhat has first dibs .. lets see if he's improved at all in his time away.

It seems a blced squad, id play 2 specialist openers n wouldnt have kammy opening, tbh he aint good enough

I dont think anybody needs any rest, we aint exactly been overworked over last 2 years, gul also still has a lot to prove

We need to have Kamran open else we have to drop a bowler or middle order batsman.

Do you really want Butt playing over MoYo ?

Gul and Aamer both have histories of stress fractures.

We are playing SIX Tests straight after this series.

Rather see Malik being accomodated over Farhat.....IMO, they are both useless but Malik is certainly better than Farhat

Whoever thinking of playing Razzaq as third steamer is surely from Pir Inzi school of thought. But for those day are long gone when we use to have mediocre non talents having a free ride.
I can easily see mr long run senior warming the bench apart from T20s.
I agree with kashif that selectors need to be strong and stop picking large squads to please maamey chachey..
14 men squad is enough because then everyone knows where they stand. It should be 11+a batsman + a fast bowler and a multi skilled player who can perform at different positions.

they were saying on geo today that butt and manzoor are likely to play in the first game......and pakistan would most likely go in with just 2 seamers......gul and aamir with malik as the fifth bowler

imo kamran akmal did a decent enough job as an opener, and their is no point in him coming in at no. 8........i would open with kamran and either butt or manzooe and have 3 seamers (atleast)

are u talking about tests or odis ?

manzoor is in the test team and akmal opens in odis only.

I may be wrong, but didn't they pick up the squad for both NZ and Aus ODIs?

We do have 5 games in about 12 days. As Kashif mentioned, that's followed by 6 tests, in which we'd want Aamer to figure in all.

We have to treat him carefully.

Nobody is kicking kami out, just stating he aint good enough to open

Im not saying farhat is the answer to our problems, maybe he isnt but he has an ok record and hes in the squad therefore we need to pick from whats been selected

Our problems at the top will not be solved by picking likes of akmal as temp solutions, we need genuine openers who will make big 50s and 100s, 20s and 30s are no good
