have you guys even read the statement??? He said Shoaib will tour India IF he's fit. and the only part you can read is "definitely". Learn to open your eyes and read the whole statement before you make any judgement.

Inzi is not going to go to India and start complaining about Shoaib's attitude. If he did you people would be going for his head. Learn to use your heads for once.

Shoaib remains doubt for Pakistan
Uzi Posted: Mon Feb 14, 2005 4:25 pm

Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar is still struggling with his fitness a week before the team leaves for India.

The 29-year-old returned home from the tour of Australia with a hamstring problem and is doubtful for the three-Test series starting next month.

"Shoaib has told me he's still carrying a niggle and needs time to recover," chief selector Wasim Bari said.

"I have conveyed to him that Pakistan needs a fully fit Shoaib for the important tour of India."

Shoaib, who has been warned that he will be left out unless he proves his fitness, refused to play in a four-day match on Monday.

Bari added: "It's his own decision not to play, (but) it's for his own good that he attains full fitness through a match because his reputation as the spearhead is at stake."

Pakistan's selectors will meet on Saturday to finalise the squad for the country's first full tour to India in six years.

Mohammad Sami also came home early from Australia after injuring his heel and back, while fellow paceman Mohammad Khalil is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in the VB series earlier this month.

Two other pace bowlers, Shabbir Ahmed (knee) and Umar Gul (back) have already been ruled out.

Meanwhile, the outcome of a Pakistan Cricket Board inquiry into claims that Shoaib was seen in bars and clubs during the series in Australia is expected to be announced on Tuesday.

The bowler denied the charges at a hearing on Saturday and has claimed that photos of him apparently taken at a party following the Sydney Test were fakes.

Just having shoaib in the side creates pressure on the opposition because you always have a chance. A chance to turn the game on it's head.

Shoaib to appear before disciplinary committee

Shoaib Akhtar has been asked to appear before a disciplinary committee on February 18 to answer to charges that he has violated his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board. The committee is chaired by Justice Amir Alam Khan and includes Abdul Salam Khawar, Maqbool Elahi Malik and Syed Asghar Haider, the legal adviser of PCB. This hearing will take place on February 17, a day before the Pakistani selectors sit down to pick the team that will tour India.

Wasim Bari, the Pakistani chief selector, told the media on Monday that Shoaib was still carrying a niggling injury and needed all the rest he could get in order to be fully fit for the series against India. "Akhtar has informed me that he still carries a niggle and needs time to recover," AFP quotes Bari as saying.

"I have conveyed to him that Pakistan needs a fully fit Akhtar for the important India tour," added Bari. "We have requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to provide us a full fitness report on each player so that we can decide on the team when we meet on Friday."

However Bari said that he hoped Shoaib knew what he was doing. "It's his own decision not to play [in a domestic match to prove fitness], it's for his own good that he attains full fitness through a match because his reputation as the spearhead is at stake."

But Pakistan have more fitness worries than just Shoaib. Mohammad Sami and Mohammad Khalil, two other fast bowlers, both picked up injuries during Pakistan's recent tour of Australia and are in the process of recovering. Shabbir Ahmed, who is recuperating from a knee surgery, and Umar Gul, who is suffering with a stress fracture, have been ruled out of taking any part in the India series.
