Key Witness to Meet Committee Tomorrow

I can confirm that the Pakistan tour manager for the disastrous tour of Australia, Abdul Raqeeb is due to meet the investigating committee tomorrow.

I was speaking to Raqeeb a few minutes ago and he confirmed that he will be quizzed by the committee on Friday.

As far as I am concerned, he could be the key witness to present evidence to the committee.

I asked Raqeeb if he could tell me what he planned to say to the committee and what he thought would be the line of questioning, but he declined to comment. "I can't say anything until I have spoken to the Committee" was his response.

Was he also manager in New Zealand? Some indications are that it may have been brewing from there

BTW: they should check with YK too from tour to Sri Lanka. I heard rumors then too that there is grouping or players not performing on purpose. I am not sure if it was reported (may have been) during or after Aus-Pak series in UAE or Pak-SL ODI series in Pakistan.

Who is bigger culprit? the PCB, coach, managers, politicians or powerful people, captains? They all allow it or make it happen or can't do much and some stay and some quit or get fired

Abdul Raqeeb is one of the very few guys in domestic circuit who is very well respected because of his reputation (usually ex-cricketers who didnt have international career don't get same respect...not in his case). He is one of those no nonsense guys so I am hoping he will not mince words and reports will be accurate. Actually Younis Khan wanted him as a manager (ofcourse he is also part of habib bank). Good luck "Raqeeb Sir" thats what everyone calls him..

The problem here is, that even if Abdul Raqeeb, or Waqar Younis reveal the names of troublemakers, or tell us what happenend, the committee is made up of the same twisted incompetent people who have been running PCB for years.

I dont expect anything substantial to come out of this.

Yes I think he was 12th Man.

Hopefully Raqeeb will say it how it is, not take sides and present the full facts.

He or any player shouldn't have been named until the inquiry was done. They know what is going on. It is just a show. A problem child was selected for NZ, coach knows about it but still got selected, was taken to Australia and by this time Captain knows about it. They must have all known about it a series ago too before NZ as it didn't start in NZ.

And that's the problem. They know whats going on. They know it happened when YK was captain, adn it is still happening.

It is just a show, to pacify the public, and nothing will come out of it

He is only the key witness if he chooses to be. He can spill the beans or be Inti's chamcha and cover his backside.

I think PCB knows it Malik, they have made him the scapegoat for the T20, by naming him as the captain

It'd be great if these committee hearings were televised. The people deserve to know the truth.

It would be safe bet to generate more money than a typical t20 game by televising this hearing. Pak team knows drama if nothing else, and there will be plenty there.

I'd be surprised if anything remotely productive comes form these closed-door hearings. All I can see are more potential cover ups and the "you scratch my back and I'll scratch your" deals being made.

^ That will be the obvious fallout to events. The one glimmer of hope is Wasim. I hope he dishes out all the dirt on what goes on in this meeting; he hasn't got much to lose, cushy job in the IPL awaits and people will probably believe him.. being the only non-lapdog to attend.

I don't think the sole purpose of this investigation should be to find out what player politics went on during the tours of NZ and Australia. They need to look at the bigger picture also - things like team selection policies, player discipline on tour. They should also look at players dealings with the press whilst on tour
