Great news but is he going to be upset?
I mean where is the respect eh? |

maybe he should throw a fit to be included in all of the shortlists...including the emerging player list....
he deserves more respect imo...

Well he's not proven himself yet although laughing is a little extreme.
I certainly wouldn't mock him too much if I were a Pakistani fan.... |

Oh and for the record: Fred, Warnie, KP, AB.
Although that's an Ashes-centric view |

Which is why I feel it's between AB and KP... and as KP'd be my ODI player of the year I think AB should get the award.
Inzi would be my second choice for test player of the year but Warnie's just been awesome. |

i dont thik KP should get one day award cause he's only played very few.. he should get the newcomers one and inzi the odi one..
the reason i would pick KP is because its one play player of the YEAR and he's hardly been playing this full year.. |

Fair enough.. but Inzi isn't nominated for the ODI award.
Which is just as odd as Strauss not being nominated for anything. |

Strauss can't be nominated for emerging player because he's one year too old |

It's all moot as McGrath will win test player of the year if there's any justice

You know the thing with Bell is that he was made to look a fool against Australia where as if you see any of his county matches, he has played some fantasic innings and very consistently too. I would not under rate him guys, atleast not yet! I would still say however that the no.4 position is still very much up for grabs in the England side and if Bell is to survive in this strong English line up then he HAS to perform against pak. As for the Awards, well they don't take into account the ashes, just from Ausgust 31st to July 1st 2004-5 so that shoudn't hamper his chances.

why the hell wasnt he included in the ODI player of the year award
he has played some magnificent cricket over the last 12 months in odis mantaining an avg of around 74 throughout the year speaks abt his performance itself which includes 11 half centuries ....more than any other player in 2004/5 year and 6 of those came in Australia which is the most difficult place for the batsmen especially the ones frm subcontinent another 3 came in the series against India ....and those who watch Indo-Pak rivalry closely know tht scoring against the other and tht too in its own home ground requires a lot of patience and guts and add the responsibility of taking ure team to safety ... and u can well imagine tht its a mamooth task of scoring against India |

Oh don't say all that cause many here think that raising one's voice to injustices done by ICC is just "Throwing a hissy fit" Yet on another day they will say "Oh PCB doesn't stand behind their players...look at BCCI and how they defend their players to the bitter end" or "Oh Pakistanis just don't have the balls to stand up to the ICC"
