Debut: Jan 2005

Do we need a Football-style Manager?

Do we need a manager who has complete responsibility for the team, in terms of selection and coaching? Of course in cricket , the captain has a significant role, but with our history is it better for the man in control to be a non playing member.?

I guess we had this to an extent with Bob, but as Inzy grew in stature as a captain Bob seemed to be sidelined.

We have Waqar as coach now and he had is fair share of political issues in the dressing room, so I am not sure whether this will just continue or he will try to use his experience to guide the current team?

We could go and ask Sir Alex Ferguson if he wants the job.

His trademark hair dryer treatment could do our lads some good.

I have thinked about thata lot of times...
In my opinion, that should be a 50-50 leadership between coach and captain... Incricket, coaches have not got enough role, and in football captains don't play a major role.
I think a good mixture of both can give something good. And it'salaways better to have ideas from 2 people than one (exept if one is moyo or butt)

I have been saying this for years. We need an overall manager/strategist

and he can have his support staff
bowling
batting
fielding
physio
weight trainer
nutrition

Will work a lot better than Waqar Younis trying to help Fawad Alam with his batting

As good a manager as he is he would not last 5 minutes in the job - Pakistan Cricket is an uncontrollable animal
