As champion, we are under pressure, but are very confident. We will not take any game lightly, we need to give 110% for the game against Aus and we will try to perform goo against BD as first game is always important in a tournament.

Exactly! His silence, his words, his each syllable. His entry. His exit! Brilliance personified!

A better (rhetorical) question would be, "What is not brilliant about it?"

Some of you guys here need to seriously question your orientations. Such obsession with other men is decidedly unhealthy.

there are only two kind of people on this forum, some hate afridi so much, that they never appreciate anything from million of things the man have done for pakistan, even world cup victory seems nothing for haters, and some who admire his excellence and his class, and what a gift he has been for pakistan cricket.

Perhaps you need to question your own orientation first. None of the posts in this thread are hinting toward any sort of obsession, are you hiding something yourself?

Moronic post.

Those are the two extremes that you have quoted, both are deluded and unfair to Afridi.

Between those two wild extremes are the normal, sensible folk, like me. I like Afridi as a cricketer, I wanted him to be the captain and I hope he succeeds as a captain and as a player. I hope he plays for Pak for the next few years at least, and leads us from the front to many honours.

However, unlike some of you I don't have a man-crush on him, I don't notice or look at his hair, and I don't scour the internet searching for his pics.

No, thanks. I have no personal obsession with Afridi. My nation should be clear from my avatar!

I like him because he is Pakistan's best T/20 player. He helped us win the World Cup last year and will again be crucial this year, as a player and as the leader.

However, if after winning the World Cup this year he retired from Pak, and only plays for Baluchistan Bears in the future, I will not become a fan or follower of the Bears. I will support whoever wears the Pakistani dark green, especially someone who plays as well as Afridi in this format.

@Free Hit - and i think his actual presence lies somewhere in between. He's been a good player but has not done much in any ICC tournament before last yr T20 Wcup. He has played in 3 ODI WCs but has failed in all. In his first T20 WC, he bulked under pressure and gave a dolly to that idiot irfan pathan..

To me, he comes nowhere close to Inzi bhai or wasim bhai...They were the real matchwinners. In the current squad Razzaq is the true champion. He performed brilliantly in 1999 WC when he was still new to cricket. he blasted glenn mcgrath in australia. he won us the final of last T20 WC by taking 3 SL wickets.

Afridi has always been about entertainment than winning matches..although i hope dat for the rest of his life he plays like he has in the last 1 year

Majority of the people on this forum will bring 60 year old stats of other players failure, but when it comes to Afridi, they conveniently ignore even his last or majority of the failures and will bring his rare last T20 world cup performance for rest of the life. Some of them will even be happy to comments on his brilliant press conference.

But for some people useless man of the tournament award is more important than winning the world cup.

Yes there was ( if you pay close attention). I did not comment on Afridi ( nothing to comment on him at the moment anyway), my comments were based on posters who were praising Afridi's press conference, which was just a regular press conference but some people termed as "brilliant".

I have a theory. And zaid65, it ain't directed at your post or what you are saying. In fact, I want to explicitly exclude myself from the novel discussion.

The theory is, one of the PP mods has an alias that is zaid65.

We all do what we have to do for biz dev, but the sole purpose of the zaid65 alias is to get PP members glued into the content. And mighty entertaining content, mind you. And the mods deserve kudos for it.

An alternative theory would be, zaid65 is Afridi_Fan's alias. Fight club, anyone?

You haven't overcome a Cricket match played thirty months ago? A Cricket match of all things?!

You, sir, should be arrested for proliferation of black bile in a quite obscene manner.

Agreed. Well said

I have gone on the net to find pics of Afridi and I did comment to myself about Afridi's blonde streaks but to be fair that was after a few prior posters brought it to my attention....I don't think that would constitute a man crush.....

Nice try to derail the thread from it's original topic, but it won't work.
