Geo Super: Pakistan playing eleven against Bangladesh announced

Just saw the Sports headlines on Geo Super where they stated that the playing eleven is already announced.

The biggest surprise is that Sami is replacing Asif. The host named the final eleven very quickly and the 10 names I think I heard are:

Hafeez
Kamran Akmal
Butt
Afridi
Umar Akmal
Misbah
Abdul Razzaq
Mohammad Aamer
Mohammad Sami
Ajmal

Can't remember the last name. It must be Fawad Alam?

Pakistan's former leg-spinner and ex-chief selector, however, criticized the practice of announcing the playing eleven well before the match.

"I don't know why this is necessary because by announcing the playing eleven in advance you basically give away your game plan and allow the opposition to plan their strategy accordingly," Qadir said.

He also slammed the decision to not play left arm spinner, Abdul Rehman warning that Pakistan would regret this decision in the World Cup.

"On pitches which are tailor-made for spinners, Rehman should be in the eleven at all costs, in 2007 we made the mistake of not playing Danish Kaneria against Ireland and went out of the World Cup," Qadir noted.

Yes that is strange, even Abdul Qadir mentioned that.

Now Bangladesh have more time to make plans etc..

Can mods add "rumor" to the end of the thread title? Thanks

I don't believe any of the "playing XI news" etc until I hear it from the captain himself at the toss.

Theres no need to add the word rumour to the thread because it already quite clearly states that this is a report from Geo Super. So whether you believe it or not is highly irrelevant to any of us...nor do we particularly care in all honesty.

Personally I dont attach great importance to these news reports either but that too is irrelevant to this thread.

Ok, I know that I never been supporter of Asif and Butt being in the team, but with the scores in these games dropping to likes of 13-140, i think we needed both in the team. Butt as he will not flash madly at the bowlers and will take some time to score his runs, which makes him a better candidate to open on these pitches, and also now batsmen have to watch before going after the bowler, this watchfulness and caution of batsmen could make Asif as good in T20 as hes in tests. Lets hope that Asif is in as well.

Agree with Qadir, it's ridiculous telling anyone about the make up of your team before the game.

Looking at India - Afgh. match pitch has something for seam bowlers. Asif should be in side in place of Sami. And what the hell is Butt doing in there.

A decent line up. Butt at 3 is silly. He should either open or sit on the bench. Asif would have been decent on this pitch, there is some swing early on. Sami can swing the ball too and has is a good death bowler.

Pakistan need to be be clinical and not let the game slip away. The batting is the key. Pakistan should bowl first if they win the toss.

Anyhow if this is the team, good luck to the all players in the playing XI!

So lets see

Umar Akmal instead of Yonus Khan = I guess no difference
Butt instead of Shahzaib = major downgrade
Sami instead of Gul = downgrade
