looking forward to see Hamsik ; he had a brilliant season for serie a side napoli, but did seem to lose his form towards the end of the season.

A natural goalscoring midfielder, although he is yet to score his intl side I believe.

The New Zealand team has 6 players that have no professional contracts anywhere.

One of them has a full time job as an asset manager.

They are the epitome of underdogs.

Ref is just inventing fouls in favor of Italy where none exist. Meanwhile Gilardino gets to protest why a foul was called after a well-placed kick in the back of the leg of the NZ captain.

Wow, Kiwis could have won this towards the end.

They have two HUGE strikers, wonder what would happen if they unleash them together.

I'm sure NZ are now fancying their chances of reaching the 2nd round. Who would've thought.

well italy has not been as bad as england, they dominated the match today and should have scored 5/6 goals however NZ defense was superb and their goal keeper even better.

good thing for italy is that they have found a good midfielder in montolivo, who is an excllant long range shooter.

Our performance was appalling, I'm embarrassed, really. We are absolutely unable to score. And our defense, which used to be our only strength, is terrible now and we cannot even cling to it any more. If we end up going home early it will serve us well.

Exactly - also even if we ignore the comparisons to England, Italy just drew with a bunch of part timers, that is embarrassing and should be of concern

BUT just like England they are lucky they have an easy group so will probably still make it through

I missed that bit - it was a ball in the air which he controlled (with his arm) then managed to get past a few players (handling it again in the process) and score

Hope it isn't serious, im a arsenal fan and I've already experienced enough, no need in football, just ruins it.

Alves comes on for Elano, who was having such a great game yet again, I personally believe manchester city should've never sold elano or send robinho out on loan.

How crucial will that arm ball goal be from Fabiano now? IC may lose but it does impact their GD.

Very stupid by Ivory Coast. They do realize they need Brazil to beat Portugal and that is harder to do without their star player.

Not the refs fault - the linesman/4th official gave the decision

People have complained that the world has been boring well...

You had a wwe fight
kaka sent off
figo and zidane spotted in the stands
dunga going mad
referee yet again showing why technology is needed.

Yes, but not worth anything but a warning. It was the slightest of nudges and the guy flops like he's been shot repeatedly in the face.

Absolute disgrace. No way should Kaka have got either of those yellow cards. I hope that it gets rescinded and that Ivory Coast player gets banned.

The African teams have been awful and apart from Italy quite easily the dirtiest and most stupid teams. It is a real shame given that the tournament in their continent for the first time.

I agree BUT Kaka got a yellow minutes earlier so it was daft to nudge him - that Keita went down like Rivaldo at the World Cup against Turkey
