He looks a good prospect.
We dont play a test for what 9 months or so !
I really hope he gets selected for the asia cup, I know his list A record is not great but he has potential. First of all he swings the ball and is a right hander.
I think we can produce another Amir but we may not get a replacement anytime soon as good as M.Asif. You rarely see bowlers in Pakistan to consistently bowl at one good area that is at good length and hitting wickets most of the time. The ability to seam the ball along with excellent line and length made him world class bowler even with low pace. Playing a seaming ball is more difficult to play than the swinging bowl that made him more dangerous. Its so unfortunate he got greedy and we lost such an asset. I wish Pakistan can get such a bowler again soon.
Sad as it may sound, but the fact is that Pakistan have never looked like winning a series since their domination of England in UAE in 2012!
Another slow day of Test cricket, but nine wickets did fall in the day and had Pakistan had a bit of luck or taken their catches, they could have retained an outside chance of registering an unlikely victory on the final day. For Sri Lanka, it was mission accomplished; they wrapped up the Pakistan innings with little fuss and the batsmen ensured they go into day five with wickets in hand and a lead in excess of 200.
We see that AB and MS are really good batsmen who don't seem to be troubled at all at times... is there any bowler in the world right now who give them a tough time?
For so long Pakistanis have abandoned the test cricket, so why do they care when they are thrown in the bottom half and not taken seriously as a test nation?
Yes I know there is no cricket in Pakistan but even before that how many people closely followed the test cricket in Pakistan? Stadiums were always empty. Cops always outnumbered the people. Even against India stadiums were always empty. Tv ratings were always low that's why PCB always found difficult to find the sponsors for test matches. Despite having such a big population PCB was never able to sell the test matches.
Whilst I support the idea of a test/first class promotion system I have found that every proposal so far raised to be poorly designed, unfair (and that's ignoring the complete disgrace of three teams being exempt from relegation).
So I've developed a system on my own. This covers the 48 ranked teams (the top 12 have test status) over 8 divisions. The top 20 teams have ODI and T2OI status. The status of a match is determined by the status of the team with the lower status (eg Ireland vs Netherlands is a first class match but Ireland vs Bangladesh is a test match)
Test matches last for 5 days and first class matches last for four days. However for pro/rel points there is no difference between a test or a first match.
Number of matches are increasing in every decade. In last decade 2000s there were 464 Test matches and 1405 ODIs. So how many Test and ODIs can we expect in 2010s?
Not the fireworks some were hoping for from a Pakistan side that need a victory to square the Test series and the consistent Sri Lankan bowlers, backed by a tidy fielding effort, ensured they maintained control of the match and the series. Shehzad the main positive for Pakistan, his 147 easing his and the team's recent opening woes.
