What can the PCB do to make sure he remains in good shape for the Tests given that there are big gaps between Test matches? Should he for example play in the last ODI/T20 before the Test series or atleast be part of the squad?
Pakistan would be pleased with the way their bowlers wrapped up the Sri Lankan innings on 388. However, the damage was done yesterday and loss of 3 early wickets in 2nd innings seem to point towards an early end to this game except for the genius of Younis and Misbah who continued to defy the odds with their fightback. The first hour tomorrow may well set the tone for the rest of the day and it will be vital for Pakistan to ensure that they defend stoutly. Another early loss of wickets may well spell the end for their resistance.
Pakistan Test team has played all their cricket away from home since 2009 and have had their good times and very bad ones too. The Bowling attack is considered to be one of the best in the world however several times they have seem to been ineffective and helpless. Is the Pakistan bowling over rated and not as good as people say it is?
Watching Pakistan cricket over the last three years, the trend that seems to stand out is that most of the so-called batsmen usually perform well in one out of every five or six innings, which then mutes any criticism for their removal. Time and again, just when we think they have finally got back on track, they never fail to disappoint. This lack of consistency and slow approach in the mindset of Pak batsmen is evident.
We have observed that our recent fast bowlers have the tendency to bowl short of good length instead of good length deliveries (just short of half volley). This does nt allow the ball to swing much and a batsman gets time to play the ball. Is the main reason for Sri Lanka's success against Pakistan?
Another dominant day for the visitors. Silva and Jayawardene and Mathews turned the screw on Day 2 in Dubai and put Sri Lanka in a position from which they should easily win this Test match. Sarfraz Ahmed's dropped catch will do little for his confidence and the Ajmal's lack of effect is beginning to get more worrying.
Mahela looks like he's back and Mathews is in form. If we get those wickets, can we get back in the game?
