Babar Azam held his nerve to anchor the innings until the end, while Shaheen Afridi's brief cameo proved crucial as Pakistan secured a three-wicket victory in their last match of the T20 World Cup 2024, played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida on Sunday.

Pride was the only thing on the line as Pakistan faced Ireland in their final group match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at Lauderhill. Both teams delivered spirited performances.
Despite a shaky start where they were 15/4, Ireland managed to post 106/9 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to some fine fast bowling by Pakistan.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, who had earlier taken three wickets, played a crucial role with his lofted strikes as Pakistan chased down the target. Their only win in the tournament so far had come against Canada, while Ireland continued to search for their first victory.
In team changes, Abbas Afridi replaced Naseem Shah for Pakistan, and Ireland brought in Ben White for Craig Young.
Pakistan's quick bowlers dominated, dismantling Ireland's top order swiftly. Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Andy Balbirnie, Lorcan Tucker, and Harry Tector in quick succession, while Mohammad Amir removed captain Paul Stirling, leaving Ireland struggling at 15/4.
Despite losing wickets regularly, Ireland put up resistance, particularly through Gareth Delany's 31 runs and valuable contributions from the lower order, including Josh Little (22* not out) and Ben White (5* not out).
Imad Wasim's slower pace was also effective, as he claimed 3/8 by dismissing Delany, Mark Adair, and bowling out Barry McCarthy.
Pakistan's response started brightly with Mohammad Rizwan and Saim Ayub both making 17 runs before falling to McCarthy. McCarthy further dented Pakistan's middle order by removing Usman Khan and Shadab Khan in quick succession, after Fakhar Zaman was caught by a substitute fielder off Curtis Campher.
Pakistan, initially 52/2 in eight overs, stumbled to 57/5 and then 62/6 when Abbas Afridi departed for 17, caught again by the substitute off White.
Babar Azam guided Pakistan to victory with an unbeaten 32, and Shaheen Shah Afridi clinched the winning runs with 13 runs off just five deliveries.
