South Africa will be heading into the 2015 World Cup as usual, as one of the favorites like in every World Cup. This time the South African side will be lead by unarguably the best batsman in the world AB de Villiers. He is the most experienced batsman in their side and the batting maestro is very much determined to change the history of South Africa's failure to win the World Cup. In the presence of the two top ODI batsman in the world AB Devilliers and Hashim Amla, they have a very strong bowling attack in the form of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. South Africa are rated as of the best sides currently and will now face the toughest challenge and that is to prove their critics wrong by ending the 'Chokers' tag by winning the ICC World Cup tournament.

South Africa are ranked number 3 in ODI's.

1996 - (India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka) Quarter-finals

1999 - (England) Semi-finals

Squad

AB de Villiers (capt), Hashim Amla (vice-capt), Kyle Abbott, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Vernon Philander, Rilee Rossouw, Dale Steyn

Top 3 players to watch

AB de Villiers

South African skipper is regarded as the best cricketer in the world and will have to play the biggest role in the team and that is by carrying the middle/lower order batting and finishing the games for his team.

Batting average: 52.16 Strike rate : 97.16

Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla's consistency and the habit of piling runs will be tested under pressure where he will looking to give South Africa solid starts. Expectations will be high from Amla especially after breaking record after record of fastest runs in One day cricket history.

Batting average: 55.59 Strike rate : 88.95

Dale Steyn

Senior bowler with the reputation of being the best bowler in the world currently. His role as a fast bowler will be very important for his team and if they are to win this World Cup then Dale Steyn will have to play a huge role in it.

Bowling average : 25.14 Economy: 4.80

Prediction:

South Africa will be among everyone's favorites to win this year's World Cup but the big question still lies in their ability to win three straight knock out matches. They have the the team and the combination to win and another failure in the tournament would be heart breaking for their fans.
