"I was naturally interested in cricket, I loved watching the game as kid while growing up. The Sialkot coach at the time, Amir Wasim encouraged me a lot and said that i could be a good leg spinner"

Pakpassion.Net - How did you start taking an interest in cricket and who encouraged you to play professionally?

Mansoor Amjad
 - I was naturally interested in cricket, I loved watching the game as kid while growing up. The Sialkot coach at the time, Amir Wasim encouraged me a lot and said that i could be a good leg spinner.

Pakpassion.Net - You are currently playing for Leictershire in the English county season, Has it improved your game?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Yes definetly, the cricket i am playing here is of a high standard and has definetly improved my game considerably, as you are aware, every team hires quality overseas players and just watching them is a great learning experience for me.

Pakpassion.Net - Whats the diffrence between playing English county cricket compared to Pakistani domestic cricket?

Mansoor Amjad
 - There is a big diffrence in the facilities as they are much better here in the uk but if you take the wet weather into account, you get better match practice in Pakistan as the rain does not effect matches as much as it does in England. If you make a player to player comparision, the quality of cricket is better in Pakistan's domestic cricket.

Pakpassion.Net - Is your legspin more effective on English or Pakistani wickets?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Actully it all depends on the weather, this year we have had a lot of rain and any leg spinner will tell you when playing in wet conditions, wrist spinner's find it very difficult as they have to try and turn the ball on the damp wicket.

Pakpassion.Net - Are there any upcomming youngster's who you could see making their way up the ranks in Pakistani cricket?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Yes, Ahmed Shehzad is a very good player, i have played with him in the club cricket arena and can see him making a name for himself, he is a very good crickiter.

Pakpassion.Net - Who is you favorite Pakistani cricketer?

Mansoor Amjad
 - My favorite player to this day is still Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Pakpassion.Net - Who is you favorite non-pakistani cricketer?

Mansoor Amjad
 - I have a few, as a bowler/leg spinner, i like Shane Warne. As for the batsmen, Brain Lara and Ricky Ponting.

Pakpassion.net - We heard that you had a serious injury to your fingers which stopped you from bowling for a while, was this true, if so how is it now?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Yes it is true, last year when i was playing in Australia, in my last match against New Zealand i damaged the ligaments in my bowling fingers, after coming to the UK i played a few more games and damaged them further, so i had to stop bowling for a while and concentrated on batting until they healed, they are a lot better now.

Pakpassion.Net - Out of all the people who have coached you, who was your favourite.

Mansoor Amjad
 - It has to be Aqib Javed, he has given me a lot of support over the years.

Pakpassion.Net - The youth setup in Pakistan, how could it be improved in your view?

Mansoor Amjad
 - As you know, the youth setup in England is very well organised, It is also improving in Pakistan now, at one time there was no regional cricket, but with the inclusion of regional cricket, under 15's, under 19's, under 21's the youth setup has also benefited and hopefully will keep improving.

Pakpassion.Net - You have played a few games at international level, who has given you the most support out of the senior players.

Mansoor Amjad
 - Shoaib Malik and Mohammed Yousuf have given me a lot of support when i was playing with the senior team to name a few.

Pakpassion.Net - Have you had any contact with Shoaib Malik since he's has been given the captaincy?

Mansoor Amjad
 - No, I have had no contact with him since he's taken on the captaincy, but that's due to me playing in England and him being busy with the training camps in Pakistan.

Pakpassion.Net - Any plans for playing in the English County season next year?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Let's wait and see, i have a few options, depending on the permission from the PCB, InshAllah i would love to play here again next season, but playing for Pakistan comes first.

Pakpasion.Net - There has been a lot of talk about the break away Indian Cricket league and offer's to our players, what are your view on this?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Well you see if you join the ICL, you have to quit playing ICC endorsed matches, players who have retired from international cricket should play for the ICL, but as for Inzi Bhai, i would still love to see him on the big screen playing international cricket.

Pakpassion.Net - Did you have any contact with the late Bob Woolmer when he was coaching Pakistan?

Mansoor Amjad
 - Yes, i attened three training camps under Bob, he was a "zabardast" coach and i learnt alot from the sessions i had with him.

Pakpassion.Net - Was there ever any language communication barriers between Bob and the players

Mansoor Amjad
 - None at all, He had a special way of communicating with every player individually in his own special way, he was a diamond.
