Which players do you think should not be part of ongoing Test series between India and England.
Given his troubles against swing and bounce in last 1 year or so, do you think he can add a lot more value to England down the order now. Surely a player with such good numbers with age on his side can't just be dropped just like that, he will come good in a couple of innings pretty soon with huge numbers.
Not easy being an out of form opener.
We have seen how Lords pitch have looked like in recent years. A very good venue for batsmen. Flat and dry. Nothing much for fast bowlers. Suddenly , we saw a green pitch with plenty of grass.
I think Eng allowed Indian bowlers a chance by giving a totally different pitch than what we have seen in Lords in past. That's called doctoring. I think it backfired the same way when Indians produced doctored sharp turners in India at home against Eng. Monty's style is perfectly suited for a sharp turner when pitch is not slow and those doctored pitches gave him exactly that.
Indian bowlers took advantage of doctored pitch in Lords more than Eng despite Eng getting best conditions to bowl. I don't think Indians can bowl out oppositions on flat surface but they have a decent chance to grab 20 wickets on green pitch. Similarly, Swan/Monty took advantage of doctored sharp turners more than Indian spinners when Eng toured India.
What do you think? Do you see a parallel here?
Think this is a sub-continental thing - maybe a side-effect of our colonial past. Whatever the reason, why is that we get so much satisfaction from beating England in their own backyard?
I am guessing the Tebbit Test will make an appearance in this thread soon
It was interesting interviewing Umar Akmal in the exclusive interview for PakPassion. One aspect which he spoke about at length was the attitude and treatment of him by previous coaches.
Whilst not disclosing names it seemed he was particularly hinting at Mohsin Khan who of course has spoken against Umar on several occasions.
Do you think that Umar has a point about his treatment from selectors and previous coaches or do you think it's sour grapes on Umar's behalf and he should look at his own performances first before pointing the finger at others?
