Seriously, apart from probably Ian Salisbury, I can't think of a spinner more horrible than Tahir in tests. He seems to be pretty good in ODI and T20. But in tests, his record speaks for itself. Not to mention, his bowling is comically bad. You can't even give the excuse that he plays on tracks not conducive for spin since he keeps bowling his full toss tripe taking the darn pitch out of the equation. I haven't seen a part-timer treated the way he was in Australia by Pup and co. Going at over 7 an over is inexcusable regardless of any pitch.

Even in this series, which has spin friendly tracks, Duminy has more wickets at a much healthier average than him. Duminy even has a better test bowling average than him. If you even give a cursory glance across his record, he doesn't average under 35 against any side except Pakistan who oughta be embarassed to give this chump an 8-fer.
Robin Peterson is mediocre but Tahir is just hopeless in tests. I hope Saffers chuck him out and play an extra pacer with Duminy as the spinner and Elgar as the part-timer.
Anybody watching the CPL that has seen other domestic competitions around the world would probably have an eye opening experience. so much young talent. so many young hostile fast bowlers. so many big hitters that have the discipline to play a long innings too.
For starters, the most important positions for a cricket outfit are bowling, openers, a true #4, and a wicket keeper batsman who can genuinely keep and bat, allowing balance in the team.....
These days there is a lot of confusion about who is an ATG and who isn't. - how do you define a ATG?

What an innings from Cook - maybe had a letoff earlier but surely an innings from his of this dimension is an example for many players who struggle to make the grade in Test Cricket.
I watched highlights of the innings and I thoroughly enjoyed it - well done Cook Sahib!
But, that aside, I dont think any of us really know what it means to battle internal demons and the demons of the press and public - where friends and foes are openly asking you to leave but you persevere and play an innings of this sort!
I know I know another Mohammad Amir thread - but keeping all the morality issues aside & based purely on talent, do you think Amir will play for Pakistan again?
After watching the 1st innings of Pak v Pak A & also the pace attacks performance over the last year or so, I gotta say I am kind of worried for Pakistan fast bowling future.
Once Amir has completed his 5 year ban next year, if he is anywhere near as good as he was before his ban, I think he could easily stroll into the Pakistani team, without much competition. If things remain the way they are today, I can easily see Amir playing for Pakistan by the end of 2015.
Having said that, a pace attack consisting of a *FULLY FIT* Irfan, Junaid & Amir - with Gul around as well - isn't too bad I guess.
