In a tourney involving SL Ind and BD teams who are traditionally not known for their fast bowling it was the Pakistani seamers that took the least amount of wickets. We can say its a temporary blip but over atleast 3-4 years since Misbah took over its our spinners that keep bailing us out with occasional bursts from the seamers. Ofcourse tactics like opening the bowling with Hafeez has not helped building the confidence for our young seamers.
There is still question marks on #3 batting position in ODIs for Pakistan with World Cup next year. I thought Mohammad Hafeez has locked it down but looks like this is not the case and some of this is fault of team management which continue shuffle him back and forth between opener and #3. Who should bat at number 3 position?
First of all thanks for supporting Pakistan in all the matches where Bangladesh wasn't involve and than well done for scoring 326 your highest total against any team. Although you guys lost the match but the effort you put in the field should be appreciated.
I hope you guys will keep supporting us in your grounds when Bangladesh isn't playing against us!
A disappointing end for Pakistan to what has been an enthralling tournament. Sri Lanka were deserved winners having won every match they played and it was almost impossible for Pakistan to get back into the game after Malinga's early burst which had the top three back in the pavilion for next to nothing. Fawad, Misbah and Umar Akmal were outstanding in their attempt to get a reasonable score on the board, but on that wicket it was probably always under-par.
Pakistan's bowling and fielding was disappointing given the high profile nature of the game, with several lapses which made the run chase fairly comfortable for Sri Lanka. Saeed Ajmal was outstanding but he needed more support from the rest as Sri Lanka sealed a well deserved title.
The bowlers in domestic matches swing it miles, Junaid was swinging it in the India series as well but they could not repeat their performance in Asia Cup - what could be the reason?
Given the performance of fielders and bowlers, the competance of Pakistani coaching staff needs to be questioned.
It doesn't matter if he is a key player or not but he shouldn't be selected if he isn't 100% fit to play and today final is a prime example of unfit 11 played by Pakistan where many players look like unfit passengers.
