Was preparing an email for a friend and the following part is in it.......
"...... Finishing off the matches and being a finisher was originally an art founded by Javed Miandad, which was then taken over by Michael Bevan. Afterwards, nowadays, it has now become a special role with a definition of its own with a few being very good at like MS Dhoni..... "
I just thought it make for an interesting thread. Is my opinion correct? Am I missing out on any names from the era of Javed Miandad?
Was watching 'Cricket Writers on TV' this morning and an interesting point was made.
With the format of the Champions Trophy being as it is, with every match being important and a reduction in the number of "dead" games as compared to the World Cup, is this likely to make the tournament "clean." Are players less susceptible to being caught out in this short sharp tournament?
It's the 25th of March and the year is 1992. The Captain of a victorious Pakistani team is called upon to receive the World Cup for the first time in the nation’s history. As Imran Khan lifts the prestigious trophy on that beautiful evening in Melbourne, millions of his countrymen around the world are standing up in unison – connected by the invisible bond of kinship. In the days, months and years to come, that moment captured by television images will be the source of inspiration for millions of Pakistanis, within them countless players who will quote that moment as the day they decided to take up the game of cricket and proudly serve their nation.
