End of day 2 : Pakistan 227/1 from 58 overs (Hafeez 137*, Azhar Ali 65*)
After a poor day in the field Pakistan knew to make a recovery they had to take early wickets. This they did through Zulfiqar Babar having Shakib caught at leg slip and then after a fighting stand between Mushfiqur and debutant Sarkar, Hafeez struck to remove Sarkar for 33. After this the wickets fell rapidly as firstly Yasir Shah and then Wahab Riaz took 2 wickets a piece.
From staring at 450+ Pakistan had managed to restrict Bangladesh to 332 through tight bowling and poor shot selection by Bangladesh.
Mohammad Hafeez and debutant Sami Aslam began in aggressive fashion with the boundaries flowing. The debutant had to depart on 20 after being given out on a review by Bangladesh. It was a tight call and possibly the benefit of the doubt should have gone with the batsman.
Azhar Ali joined Mohammad Hafeez who continued playing freely. Azhar Ali played a solid supporting innings to Hafeez's brilliant knock.
The pair formed a superb unbeaten 177 run stand which has put Pakistan in a position to take a match winning lead.
Overall a fine performance by Pakistan.
