Day 5 : Bangladesh 555/6 from 136 overs (Tamim 206, Kayes 150, Shakib 76*)

Pakistan were on the backfoot and the only way they could have produced a result was by picking early wickets. That did not happen and the home team continued to dominate with a double century from Tamim Iqbal, the rest of the team batted throughout the day and the Pakistani bowlers did not get much success.

The overnight heroes resumed with their massive partnership and took it to 312 runs before Kayes was dismissed by Babar for a fine 150. Tamim continued playing in his typically aggressive manner, slamming a further 3 sixes including one from Junaid Khan to get his double hundred. When he departed to fellow double centurion Hafeez for 206 he had hit 17 boundaries and 7 sixes. An unforgettable innings which will go down in the annals of Bangladesh cricket.

After the epic opening stand a draw was pretty much guaranteed so the rest of the day was just Bangladesh grinding the Pakistani bowling into the dust. Although Pakistan managed to take 6 wickets they were almost meaningless with Shakib once again playing a good innings of 76*.

Overall Pakistan will be deeply disappointed in their bowling in the 2nd innings and will feel concerned about their inability to win a game they had in their hands. The fielding was also terrible on the first day.

Bangladesh will take an enormous amount of confidence from their 2nd innings. To be 296 behind and play with such authority is a rare feat. Tamim is in the form of his life and if the bowling can improve they have a chance to win the 2nd Test.
