Overnight Day 3 score: Sri Lanka 300 all out , Pakistan 118-5

Pakistan began Day 4 on a positive note with Sarfraz and Asad Shafiq. Sarfraz attacked the bowlers and played at a strike rate of over hundred while Asad played the supporting role and defended well. The partnership lasted 139 runs (31.4 overs) as Sarfraz played on a delivery bowled by Prasad for 96. Wahab Riaz walked in to join Asad as Pakistan looked to wipe off the deficit. Wahab was eventually bowled as he lost his patience. Pakistan were still 26 runs behind at this stage.

Yasir Shah was caught behind after scoring a quick 23 and were 8 down as Pakistan took the lead. Asad Shafiq and Zulfiqar extended the lead to 90 at the end of the second session where Asad got his 7th Test hundred and Zulfiqar got his first fifty in Test cricket.

Pakistan continued after Tea as the lead crossed hundred. Zulfiqar was eventually dismissed after scoring a brilliant 56 but there was no sign of declaration yet. Asad Shafiq in an attempt to score quickly came down the track and was stumped for 131. Pakistan were all out for 417 and took a decent lead of 117 runs.

Wahab Riaz like he first innings bowled with a lot of aggression and pace and as a result had the centurion from the first innings Kaushal Silva caught in the slips. He could've had Sangakkara caught at short leg too if Azhar Ali had got hold of the catch. Sangakkara was later caught at short leg as Yasir Shah spun one out of the rough. At the end of play Pakistan were on top as they had Sri Lanka 63-2 still trailing by 54 runs.

Pakistan would be sniffing a victory on Day 5 if they can get the home team out quickly tomorrow.
