Day 4 Overnight score: Sri Lanka 300 all out and 63-2 , Pakistan 417 all out
Pakistan began Day 5 knowing that if they get Sri Lanka out quickly they would be in with a chance to win the match. Yasir Shah didn't waste any time and picked up the night watchman Perera in the first over. Thirimanne and Karuratne then formed a strong partnership and threatened to take the game away from Pakistan but Wahab Riaz had other plans when he got Thirimanne caught at first slip for 44. Sri Lanka lost 2 wickets in the first session and were set at 144-4.
Pakistan or I should say Yasir Shah dismissed skipper Mathews who popped one up to Azhar Ali at short leg. Karunaratne soon followed after scoring 79 as he was brilliantly stumped by Sarfraz. Vithanage didn't last long either and was out after scoring just 1 to give Yasir Shah his 5th wicket in the innings. Dinesh Chandimal was the only hope Sri Lanka had now. Zulfiqar later picked up the wicket of Prasad who danced down the track and was stumped. Rangana Herath followed as he tried to hit one out of the ground of Yasir Shah to be caught at deep mid wicket and gave Yasir his 6th wicket. Sri Lanka were in deep deep trouble at 203-9 at this stage. Chandimal in an attempt to get some runs came down the track and was also stumped to give Yasir Shah exceptional figures of 7-76 and Sri Lanka were all out or 206. Pakistan required 90 runs to win the first Test Match a Galle.
The Pakistan openers Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez made the target of 90 runs look ease as they worked the field around, picked up the boundaries and rotated the strike with ease. The target was achieved in 11.2 overs with Hafeez and Shehzad remaining not out on 46* and 43* respectively.
