A superlative display of fast-bowling by Wahab Riaz, combined with mesmerizing spin from Yasir Shah puts Pakistan in control at end of Day 3.

Overnight: England - 182/3 in 51.0 overs (JE Root 76, JM Bairstow 27)

First Session: England were expected to push on towards Pakistan total in friendly batting conditions but Pakistan, and particularly Wahab Riaz, had other ideas. The left-armer produced the spell of the series to completely dismantle England in the opening session.

First, he picked up the crucial wicket of Joe Root who edged behind to Sarfraz. That wicket brought England's somewhat brittle lower order to the crease. Wahab beat Stokes several times before finding the edge, and then also dismissed Jos Buttler for 0 in the same fashion.

Meanwhile, Yasir Shah was twirling away at the other end. He should have had Jonny Bairstow caught at slip but the 3rd umpire ruled that Younis Khan had grounded the catch. Shah dismissed Rashid for 0 when the batsman went for an ugly swipe 2nd ball, and then he also got rid of Mark Wood and Bairstow in quick succession to take his tally to 4 for the innings.

Imran Khan finished things off by bouncing out Anderson and England had collapsed to 242 all out, handing Pakistan a huge 136 run lead.

Second Session: England knew they had their work cut out and what need to take all their chances if they were to get back into the Test. They spilled one early though, as Buttler couldn't hold on to a nick down leg side from Shan Masood. The batsman didn't last long though, falling to Anderson for the 4th time in 4 innings. Shoaib Malik was given a barrage of short balls before he poked tentativley at a fuller one and edged the ball on to his stumps off Mark Wood. It left Pakistan precariously placed at 16/2.

Mohammad Hafeez attacked though to quickly extend Pakistan's lead. He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in his 51 before edging wood to slip. It brought Misbah and Younis together who continued to score freely. The spinners were disappointing for Alastair Cook as they bowled too many loose balls which were pounced on by Pakistan's experienced pair. Pakistan reached 92/3 at tea, with a very handy lead of 228.

Third Session: Misbah hit a 6 off Rashid early on on to become Pakistan's leading 6 hitter in Test cricket, and shortly after Younis reached a record of his own as reached the milestone of 9000 Test runs and brought up yet another half century shortly after. The pair picked off a deflated England attack with some ease and the lead went past 300. Two consecutive 50s by Misbah off Rashid brought up the skipper's half century to go with his ton in the 1st innings.

The pair continued to dominate, bringing up a century partnership and a concluding a magnificent session for the home side. By close of play Pakistan were in a very strong position, leading by 358 runs.

Summary: What a day for the home side. Wahab Riaz set the tone early on with a blistering spell. The combination of his pace and reverse swing with Yasir Shah's leg-spin induced a spectacular England collapse. Despite a sketchy start, Pakistan's batsmen then consolidated and are now well placed to take a 1-0 lead in the series. They will probably look to bat till around lunch tomorrow which should give them enough runs, and enough time, to take 10 wickets.
