Luke Wright's blistering 86* and Mohammad Nawaz's 4/13 prove too hot to handle for Islamabad United.

Toss: Quetta win the toss and bowl first

Islamabad United XI: S Watson, U Amin, *Misbah-ul-Haq, B Azam, A Russell, S Khan, +S Billings, I Khalid, R Raees, S Badree, M Irfan

Quetta Gladiators XI: A Shehzad, L Wright, *+S Ahmed, K Pietersen, E Chigumbura, M Nabi, M Nawaz, A Ali, U Gul, Z Babar, Akbar-ur-Rehman

Islamabad innings:The PSL was kicked off by a maiden, which foreshadowed much of what was going to come. Islamabad were lacklustre and got bogged down by some great spin bowling from Babar and Nawaz. The latter especially stamping his authority on the batting side, taking wickets regularly and leaving Islamabad's team reeling. It was heartening to see Kevin Pieteresn throughout giving tips to the young bowler. Islamabad however were rescued late on by a late blitz from Russell and, who else, Misbah. Both powered their team from 63/6 in 14.4 overs to 128/7. And on a spinning track it is a testing total.

FOW:

1-21 (Sharjeel Khan, 4.6 ov)
2-24 (Umar Amin, 6.2 ov)
3-28 (Watson, 7.6 ov)
4-32 (Billings, 9.1 ov)
5-56 (Babar Azam, 12.5 ov)
6-63 (Imran Khalid, 14.2 ov)
7-120 (Misbah-ul-Haq, 18.5 ov)

Quetta innings: Quetta started at a brisk pace with Luke Wright blazing away against Badree and blasting Irfan for back to back sixes. Losing Shehzad and then Pieterson had no affect and he continued to blitz the Islamabad bowlers, taking the game away by the end of the 11 over with Quetta at 93. He was also joined by Nawaz after the second wicket fell. Nawaz, high on confidence from his bowling heroics, provided a decent supporting role till the end of the chase.

FOW:

1-53 (Ahmed Shehzad, 4.3 ov)
2-73 (Pietersen, 8.4 ov)

Match summary: A great win for Sarfraz's men, considered to be underdogs by many, they will be delighted with how dominating their performance was. Islamabad have plenty of things to ponder, their batting was dire and their bowling was very poor. Their bright spot when it came to bowling was Khalid's spin. He, along with the superb Nawaz, are the ones to look out for.
