Hat-trick by Mohammad Amir, outstanding batting by Lendl Simmons and Shakib al Hasan decisive factors in Karachi win.
By PakPassion.net Staff (5th February, 2016)

Result : Karachi Kings won by 7 wickets (with 25 balls remaining) - Lahore Qalandars 125/8 (20 ov), Karachi Kings 131/3 (15.5 ov)

Toss: Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to field first

Karachi Kings XI: Nauman Anwar, LMP Simmons, JM Vince, Shoaib Malik*, Shakib Al Hasan, RS Bopara, Imad Wasim, Iftikhar Ahmed, Sohail Tanvir, Saifullah Bangash†, Mohammad Amir

Lahore Qalandar XI:

Azhar Ali(c), Chris Gayle, Cameron Delport, Mohammad Rizwan(wk), Sohaib Maqsood, Dwayne Bravo, Naved Yasin, Kevon Cooper, Zafar Gohar, Zohaib Khan, Zia-ul-Haq

Lahore innings: Gayle walked out amongst massive anticipation and started off with a four, however the pitch displaying its spin demons yet again caught Gayle out as he skied one. Azhar Ali on the other end played some good strokes but eventually, yes against spin yet another batsman, was outfoxed and bowled from a great Shakib delivery. The runs dried up, Maqsood started off very nervously and in the process was involved in his partner's (Delport) run out. He eventually settled down but was given a golden life when Bangash missed a stumping off Shakib. He soon followed Delport to the dressing room after skying a big one, this patchy innings will only highlight his continued frailties when it comes to batting. Rizwan and Bravo were the next ones out in the middle, the former playing some decent shots and rotating the strike. The two seem to have settled down but then Amir's magic struck. He showed why he is considered to be one of the most talented player, on a pitch where pace bowlers yesterday were carted around he struck with a hattrick. It took the wind out of Lahore's innings and resigned them to a poor total of 125/8 with Rizwan's 37 providing any sort of resistance.

FOW:

1-6 (Gayle, 0.4 ov)
2-37 (Azhar Ali, 4.6 ov)
3-56 (Delport, 9.4 ov)
4-80 (Sohaib Maqsood, 13.6 ov)

Karachi innings: Karachi started disastrously losing two wickets for 4 runs. Although Vince's wicket was a debatable decision. Simmons and Shakib however then took the game away from Lahore, playing some glorious strokes all over the ground. They were helped by some shoddy Lahore bowling and fielding. Shakib raced to his fifty after 32 while Simmons 31 balls. The partnership took the match away from Lahore, and both batsmen showed that maybe the pitch did not have as many demons as many thought.

FOW:

1-1 (Nauman Anwar, 0.4 ov)
2-4 (Vince, 1.5 ov)
3-113 (Shakib Al Hasan, 13.4 ov)

Match summary: Fantastic win for the Kings, they dominated throughtout. Amir's bowling was one of the highlights of the game along with some sublime batting from his teammates. On this form and especially with their very varied pace and spin attack Karachi look the favorites.
