Peshawar Zalmi innings: Unlike every team batting first, Peshawar started off at a brisk pace. However losing wickets at regular intervals did not help and they got bogged down. By the 14th over at 88/3 the innings was in danger of peetering out. However a solid fifty from Tamim ad cameos from Afridi and Sammy ensured that, for the first time in PSL, the team batting first posted a competitive total.

Islamabad United innings : United started very poorly. Their batsmen could not get the ball away and they kept losing wickets, to what it must be said, some rash shots. Azam and Amin failed to impress, while Watson limped to 28. Misbah was one of the last hopes but he skied a long shot leaving Islamabad reeling at 66-5 and Asghar impressing with his third wicket for a very economy. There was an attempt to rescue the game late on by Russell and Billings but it was not to be and they finished for a mediocre 121/9.

Match summary: Islamabad continue their miserable form, and looking like the poorest team out of the bunch so far. They have a lot of issues to sort out, especially with their batting. Their two main spots, however, are Raees who looks to be a fine player and Ajmal who looks to have rediscovered his spark. For Peshawar it was a great start to the tournament and they will hope to continue and build on this performance.
