Quetta Gladiators: Ahmed Shehzad, Luke Wright, Kevin Pietersen, Elton Chigumbura, Mohammad Nabi, Sarfraz Ahmed(c & wk), Akbar-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Nawaz, Zulfiqar Babar, Umar Gul, Anwar Ali

Peshawar Zalmi: Mohammad Hafeez, Tamim Iqbal, Dawid Malan, Kamran Akmal(wk), Shahid Yousuf, Shahid Afridi(c), Darren Sammy, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Asghar, Shaun Tait

Peshawar Zalmi: Perhaps one of the eagerly anticipated match-ups between two unbeaten teams started off like all the others. Peshawar, batting first, struggled and never found a rythm in their innnings. The star man Afridi went for a duck and other than Sammy noone really stood out. Nawaz was superb again, pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Sammy was the best batsman for Zalmi, playing an explosive 48, with four massive sixes and ensuring his team got to a fighting total of 135-7.

FOW:

1-22 (Tamim , 4.2 overs)
2-24 (M Hafeez , 4.5 overs)
3-43 (K Akmal , 8.2 overs)
4-59 (D Malan , 11.4 overs)
5-59 (Afridi , 11.6 overs)
6-116 (S Yousuf , 18.5 overs)
7-129 (Sammy , 19.3 overs)

Quetta Gladiators: The reply started with a a brisk tempo, Wright and Shehzad both finding runs easily. Both of them however were out within 5 balls of each other, putting pressure back on themselves. Next came Sarfraz...and boy his partnership with KP was amusing to say the least. His running between the wickets was, while urgent, highly risky and typical of the mind boggling running between the wickets of the international side. However he did not last for long and within 23 runs his team lost three more wickets, leaving the game in balance. KP however hung on and looked to seal it until he was caught briliinatly by Afridi. With Quetta looking down and out they were rescued by a massive six from Anwar Ali reducing the deficit to 7 runs for the final over. Chigumubura hit a four and then Ali sealed the finishing runs to cap off a brilliant win.

FOW:

1-35 (Ahmed Shehzad , 3.5 overs)
2-35 (L Wright , 4.4 overs)
3-73 (Sarfraz , 10.4 overs)
4-79 (Mohammad Nawaz , 11.5 overs)
5-96 (Akbar-ur-Rehman , 14.2 overs)
6-116 (Nabi , 16.5 overs)
7-118 (Pietersen , 17.5 overs)

Summary: Another thrilling game today and a very closely fought encounter between two excellent sides. Both fought with passion, though with questionable behavior from Gul and Wahab, the latter especially sledging a youngster unprofessionally. But both teams showed they have plenty of quality bowling and both will be very disappointed if they do not land a final berth. Quetta will be delighted at a dream start and will hope to continue their unbeaten run, while for Peshawar they know it could have gone either way and will not be too disappointed as they have the quality to keep going and win the trophy.
