The Pakistan batsman's fireworks in batting were followed by an equally amazing bowling performance by Zafar Gohar (4/14)
By PakPassion.net Staff (8th February, 2016)

Result : Lahore Qalandars won by 63 runs; Lahore Qalandars 194/3 (20/20 ov), Quetta Gladiators 131 (16.2/20 ov)

Toss: Quetta Gladiators won the toss and elected to field

Quetta Gladiators XI: A Shehzad, L Wright, *+S Ahmed, K Pietersen, E Chigumbura, M Nabi, M Nawaz, A Ali, U Gul, Z Babar, Akbar-ur-Rehman

Lahore Qalandars XI: *A Ali, C Delport, +M Rizwan, N Yasin, D Bravo, U Akmal, H Azam, Z Khan, K Cooper, A Mendis, Z Gohar

Lahore Qalandars : Chris Gayles' absence was not an issue as Azhar Ali and Cameron Delport started off well putting on 62 for the opening partnership before Azhar was picked up by Gul. Umar Akmal then joined in the fun with Delport at his side and took on Quetta bowlers with ease, scoring the fastest 50 of the tournament along the way. Cameron Delport departed for 73 but Umar Akmal was not to be stopped and was the last man out on a fantastic 93 (40). Lahore ending up on 194/3 in 20 overs.

FOW:

1-62 (Azhar Ali, 9.6 ov)
2-157 (Delport, 16.6 ov)
3-193 (Umar Akmal, 19.5 ov)

Quetta Gladiators: A blistering start or atleast a good one was needed by Quetta in this situation but that was not to be as Shehzad and Wright departed early leaving a tough ask for the remaining batsmen. KP walked in but was soon on his way as Dwayne Bravo picked up one of the key players for Quetta. It was then down to the captain Sarfraz Ahmed and the impressive Mohammad Nawaz to carry out consolidation and take the attack back to Lahore. With the required run rate rising, Quetta suffered another blow when their captain Sarfraz Ahmed was stumped. What followed next was a procession of Quetta batsmen as they tried to keep pace with the ever rising asking rate. Quetta were eventually bowled out for 131.

FOW:

1-20 (Ahmed Shehzad, 2.5 ov)
2-26 (Wright, 3.2 ov)
3-37 (Pietersen, 5.4 ov)
4-111 (Sarfraz Ahmed, 12.3 ov)
5-118 (Mohammad Nawaz, 13.5 ov)
6-122 (Mohammad Nabi, 14.3 ov)
7-125 (Chigumbura, 15.2 ov)
8-129 (Anwar Ali, 15.6 ov)
9-130 (Akbar-ur-Rehman, 15.6 ov)
10-131 (Umar Gul, 16.2 ov)

Match summary: Umar Akmal has always shown a lot of promise but today he delivered in a spectacular fashion with 93 off just 40 balls. The supreme effort by the batsmen was instrumental in Lahore's mammoth score of 194. Unbeaten in this tournament until this game, Quetta finally met their match and were found wanting in chasing a huge total. Lots of positives for Lahore and a great day for Pakistan cricket to see one of their stars fulfill his potential.
