New Zealand all-rounder's 4/15 sets the scene for a comfortable Quetta victory
By PakPassion.net Staff (13th February, 2016)

Result : Quetta Gladiators win by 5 wickets

Toss: Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to bat first

Karachi Kings: Nauman Anwar, James Vince, Ravi Bopara, Shoaib Malik(c), Mushfiqur Rahim(wk), Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim, Sohail Tanvir, Usama Mir, Sohail Khan, Mir Hamza

Quetta Gladiators Ahmed Shehzad, Luke Wright, Kevin Pietersen, Grant Elliott, Mohammad Nabi, Sarfraz Ahmed(c & wk), Anwar Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Zulfiqar Babar, Akbar-ur-Rehman, Aizaz Cheema

Karachi Kings Innings : Anwar continued to fail with his batting, he looks talented so its frustrating for him and the fans to see him fail again and again. Malik started very aggressively, pushing himself top of the order gave him and Karachi a push they needed. However they slowed down and Gladiators pulled them back to 62-1 after 9. Elliot then removed Vince, what a buy he's turning out to be! Malik played well but then skied a long one to Shehzad and left the Kings in a tight spot at 86/3 after 13. Quetta continued their tight bowling and then Elliot took another one, this time Shakib failing to fire on. Elliot followed it up with ANOTHER wicket, this time Tanvir looking for a six but failing to do so...but even that wasn't enough as he then caught and bowled the big man Bopara in the same over for his FOURTH wicket. Who needs Bopara when you have Elliot?! Imad Wasim soon followed his teammates to the dug out after failing yet again. Kings finished very meekly at 126/9 and they will be very disappointed with their showing today.

FOW:

1-16 (N Anwar , 2.4 overs)
2-63 (J Vince , 9.2 overs)
3-86 (S Malik , 12.5 overs)
4-97 (Shakib , 15.1 overs)
5-111 (Tavir , 17.2 overs)
6-111 (Bopara , 17.5 overs)
7-113 (Wasim , 18.2 overs)
8-118 (Usama Mir , 18.5 overs)
9-120 (Rahim , 19.4 overs)

Quetta Gladiators: Shehzad and Wright got off to a quick start aided by some wayward bowling from Karachi. Imad broke through the opening partnership removing Luke Wright in the 5th over. Shehzad continued on like a man with a point to prove. Maybe being axed from the squad has given him the push he needed? Karachi bolwers eventually struck back with wickets of Shehzad, KP, Elliott and Nawaz. But it wasn't enough to contain Quetta.

FOW:

1-33 (L Wright, 4.1 ov)
2-66 (A Shehzad, 8.1 ov)
3-95 (Pietersen, 12.5 ov)
4-103 (Elliott, 14.3 ov)
5-117 (Mohammad Nawaz, 16.6 ov)

Match summary: Karachi's dismal performance with the bat has cost them dearly as the total wasn't enough for the bowlers to defend. Quetta easily chased the total without any panic. Imad Wasim needs to work on his crease awareness. Second time he has been needlessly runout this tournament. Karachi may need to revise their strategy of picking all rounders and select a few genuine batsmen.
