Result : Peshawar Zalmi win by 8 wickets with eight balls remaining - Quetta Gladiators 129 (18/20 overs) Peshawar Zalmi 130/2 (18.4/20 overs)

Toss: Quetta Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat

Quetta Gladiators: Ahmed Shehzad, Kumar Sangakkara, Asad Shafiq, Grant Elliott, Mohammad Nabi, Sarfraz Ahmed(c & wk), Elton Chigumbura, Zulfiqar Babar, Akbar-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Nawaz, Umar Gul

Peshawar Zalmi: Mohammad Hafeez, Dawid Malan, Kamran Akmal(wk), Shahid Yousuf, Brad Hodge, Shahid Afridi(c), Darren Sammy, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Asghar, Shaun Tai

Quetta Gladiators: Quetta started with a bang, Shehzad especially playing some delightful shots and his partner (a surprise inclusion at even a more surprising position) Shafiq supported him well. However then began a calamitous collapse led by Shehzad and Wahab's unpleasant altercation, Quetta from 40-0 collapsed to 66/9 in the space of eight disastrous overs. They did not know what hit them, Afridi bowled superbly with his best ever figures in a T20 match. Have a read of this: 4 overs, 7 runs, EIGHTEEN dots, FIVE wickets. His spell decimated the Gladiators, however that was not the end of that, led by Elliot with Babar alongside him the pair recorded a world record last wicket partnership. Some lusty blows led to an incredible 63 run partnership and Quetta were all out for 129, something that gave them something to bowl at.

FOW:

1-40 (Ahmed Shehzad , 4.2 overs)
2-41 (Sangakkara , 4.4 overs)
3-42 (Akbar-ur-Rehman , 5.2 overs)
4-47 (Shafiq , 7.2 overs)
5-60 (Mohammad Nawaz , 9.1 overs)
6-61 (Sarfraz , 9.3 overs)
7-65 (Nabi , 11.4 overs)
9-66 (U Gul , 12.4 overs)
10-129 (Elliott , 17.6 overs)

Peshawar Zalmi: Zalmi started very aggressively, Hafeez laying the platform well playing some excellent shots especially against Nawaz. That set the tone of the entire innings, Quetta did not threaten much and Zalmi coasted throughout. Malan played a very good innings, looking composed and confident. In the end the horrible collapse by Quetta was too much for them to recover. Zalmi won easily by eight wickets.

FOW:

1-60 (M Hafeez , 8.2 overs)
2-114 (K Akmal , 16.4 overs)

Match summary: What promised to be a tight clash between the best teams in PSL so far, indeed their first match was very close, turned out to be a one sided rout. Zalmi bounced by incredibly well while Quetta will do well to forget this quickly. They're still tied at the top for the number one spot so they will look to move on and plan for the playoffs.
