Bismillah Khan's 55 sets the stage for a remarkable run-chase of 202 by Quetta Gladiators.
By PakPassion.net Staff (16th February, 2016)

Result : Quetta Gladiators win by 2 wickets; Lahore Qalandars 201/2 (20/20 ov), Quetta Gladiators 203/8 (20/20 ov)

Toss: Quetta Gladiators won the toss and elected to field

Quetta Gladiators XI: Ahmed Shehzad, Kumar Sangakkara, Kevin Pietersen, Grant Elliott, Mohammad Nabi, Sarfraz Ahmed(c & wk), Anwar Ali, Zulfiqar Babar, Bismillah Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Umar Gul

Lahore Qalandars XI: Azhar Ali(c), Chris Gayle, Cameron Delport, Naved Yasin, Umar Akmal, Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Rizwan(wk), Zohaib Khan, Zafar Gohar, Kevon Cooper, Ehsan Adi

Lahore Qalandars : The storm has finally arrived and not too late either...Gayle took the bowlers in typical Gayle fashion. Blasting Anwar and Gul for massive sixes racing to 50 off 28 balls in no time. His partner, Azhar Ali, also buoyed by Gayle's hitting played confidently and also got his fifty after 38 balls. Lahore motored along but after Gayle's dismissal there was a stutter as Azhar departed too, at that point with so many wickets left anything less than 200 would had been seen as a disappointment. And they did not fail, Umar Akmal absolutely destroying the bowling, especially Anwar with an amazing 55 off 24 balls and taking his team to 201/2. Amazing innings from Lahore. Anwar was very poor with 0/57.

FOW:

1-108 (Gayle , 10.4 overs)
2-142 (Azhar Ali , 15.2 overs)

Quetta Gladiators: Quetta lived up to their gladiatorial name and amassed runs at a very quick pace. Bismillah Khan, the KP (with his five fours in a row off Adil) and then Sangakara piled on runs and after 14 overs the Gladiators were at 151/3, well on course. Then Adil struct with 3 wickets and a great catch, removing Sarfraz, Sangakara and Nawaz and it took the wind out of Quetta. With things looking lost Nabi produced a stunning cameo, smashing 16 off the last over and taking his team over the finishing line with a superb chase.

FOW:

1-28 (Ahmed Shehzad , 2.1 overs)
2-101 (Pietersen , 8.4 overs)
3-101 (Bismillah Khan , 8.5 overs)
4-162 (Sarfraz , 15.3 overs)
5-163 (Sangakkara , 15.6 overs)
6-171 (Elliott , 16.6 overs)
7-172 (Mohammad Nawaz , 17.3 overs)
8-186 (Anwar Ali , 18.5 overs)

Match summary: Umar Akmal has always shown a lot of promise already in the PSL and today he delivered in a spectacular fashion with 55 off just 24 balls. He was obviously helped by massive hitting from both Gayle and Azhar at the start of the innings, both of whom perhaps arrived too little too late to help Lahore's cause. Lahore now have to win their last game and hope Karachi lose, otherwise the Kings will go through via their superior head to head wins. Quetta however will look to concentrate on their coming playoff against Peshawar and continue their very good form.
