It wasnt a superlative performance but one that will do. However, with most of the top order sitting in the pavilion at 144/6, it was left to the Captain Misbah-ul-Haq who guided his team to a reasonable 231/7 after Pakistan had won the toss.

If this is going to be the pattern for the rest of the summer then Pakistan are in for a rough ride as they go against the top teams of the world. The only other contribution of note was a quick fire 49 by Imran Farhat which can be viewed as a positive sign. Whether he will continue to play such innings against well established teams is moot.

The result was never in doubt although some Scottish fans may have been taken aback by the rate at which Pakistani batting order succumbed initially.

Scotland for their part had their Captains contribution from Coetzer who top scored with an encouraging 32 but the might of Pakistani bowling did not let any Scottish batsman settle down, with Saeed Ajmal and Junaid Khan each picking 3 wickets each.

The final result was a 96 run victory for Pakistan but whether it was convincing enough for some fans will be point of discussion soon.
