D is for...Death bowling
The last 15 overs where batsmen will try to get the maximum and bowlers will do their utmost to stop the rot
In recent times, this skill which was a given for Pak bowlers has become rare. Umar Gul used to be a great proponent of fantastic death bowling - yorkers bowled at will, batsmen seen looking clueless against such accuracy
Fact is that Pakistan is lacking in this skill and using spinners in Death overs is a strategy filled with huge amounts of risk.
So how will Pakistan and other nations approach this? One would imagine that the recently held camp in Abbottabad would have been an ideal platform to iron this out for Pak bowlers but only time will tell.
Mohammed Irfan and Junaid Khan will be carrying the burden of the attack and whereas they are both capable of denting batting line ups in the FIRST 15 overs, they will undoubtedly be asked to contain batsmen in the last 15 overs as well.
Likewise Pak batsmen will also need to devise strategies to score in the Death overs and hope work has been done on some improvisations etc
All in all an important aspect of ODI Cricket.
