G is for...Gayle

G is for Gayle. Both kinds…

First the man, Chris Gayle....

He is the most talked-about player in the run-up to the Champions Trophy, primarily due to his blistering form in the IPL. He has faced some international bowlers in the tournament, but will he be able to replicate his form at the very highest level?

The opposition are certainly focusing on him, with Saeed Ajmal recently stating they are formulating plans for the big-hitting left-hander.

Fans too have been speculating:

..and the weather, gail.

British weather and its marvellous unpredictability. Pakistan tried to pre-condition for the tour by holding camp at a location in Pakistan that closely replicated the weather here in England. However Abbottabad may have had the showers, but it must have felt a long long way away when the team started their first training session in Edinburgh, as our man Talha confirmed…

We’ve seen a number of instances in which a team’s fortunes have been changed as a result of the weather – Pakistan 1992, South Africa and their Duckworth-Lewis miscalculation, England in the 2009 World T20. It’s unlikely the rain, hail, gail or snow (yes, it was snowing in Scotland a couple of days ago!) will not play a part in this tournament.

No better place to play and watch cricket when the sun comes out though!
