J is for...Junaid
Junaid.
Junaid Khan that is.
Being asked to lead the attack with Mohammad Irfan, the 23-year old will be asked to put a lot on his shoulders. Having never played an ODI in England, it will be crucial for Pakistan's chances in the tournament that Junaid be able to take wickets with the new ball and provide break-throughs in a partnership when his captain throws him the ball.
If past results, albeit limited and at a lesser scale, are anything to go by, we're in for a treat.
Playing for Lancashire in the Friends Life t20, Junaid finished with 12 wickets from 8 T20s at an average of 15.50.
Junaid has received the opportunity to bowl in the United Kingdom, when he went up against Ireland in 2011 and then Scotland in the preparation for the Champions Trophy.
Below are his bowling figures:
9 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 9.33, economy rate of 3.81, and strike rate of 14.6.
That wouldn't be such a bad stat collection after Pakistan's group matches vs. West Indies, India, and South Africa.
