Pakistan A Innings

Pakistan started their innings cautiously with Shan Masood and Ahmed Shehzad opening the batting. Both batsmen did well against the new bowl spell from Steyn and Philander. Later on, with conditions becoming more favorable to the batsmen, Shehzad started playing his shots more frequently and went on to score 50 with a decent strike rate. The opening pair managed to put on a century partnership before R. Peterson took the first wicket of Shehzad with the score on 106.

Shan Masood remained patient and went on to score his 50 from 140 balls and then retired. Azhar Ali was then joined by Faisal Iqbal, but Iqbal was dismissed after scoring only 10 runs from 21 deliveries, leaving the score on 162/3. Azhar Ali continued on in his workmanlike manner and was joined by Asad Shafiq. The two carried on the batting responsibly and took the total to 200 when Azhar Ali reached his half century. He then retired out after hitting another boundary and was replaced by the captain Umar Amin.

At stumps, both batsmen looked in control with Asad Shafiq on 32 from 70 balls, and Umar Amin on 10 from 28 balls. The total at the end of Day 2 was 230/4 after 78 overs.

Summary

Tomorrow will be another exciting day from Sharjah, with Pakistan A still left with 22 overs to play from the allotted 100 overs per innings. It will be interesting to see if Sohaib Maqsood and Mohammad Rizwan get some batting practice from the remaining 22 overs on the last day of this practice match.
