Pakistan started strongly on Day 2 with contributions from Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan who scored a big hundred (177), Sarfraz and Rehman also chipped in with useful fifties to take the 1st Innings total to 451. In reply Sri Lanka had a shaky start with a few edges going to the boundary. Junaid Khan claimed the wicket of Tharanga early and Sangakkara had to walk in at 24-1. He steadied the ship for Sri Lanka along with Kaushal Silva to end the Day on 99-1, with Sri Lanka trailing by 352 runs.

Morning Session
Asad Shafiq and Younis Khan started Day 2 where they left off by continuing to score boundaries at every opportunity. Asad Shafiq mis read the arm ball from Herath and was adjudged LBW on a well made 75. Pakistan still had some work to do when Sarfraz Ahmed joined Younis at the crease. Sarfraz started on a positive note playing some attacking shots while Younis bought up his 150 by smashing Eranga through the covers. A good session for Pakistan where they added 86 to the over night total and lost the only wicket of Asad Shafiq.
At Lunch Pakistan were 347-5, with Younis Khan on 171* and Sarfraz Ahmed on 28*
Afternoon Session
Pakistan resumed the afternoon session with Younis Khan getting out early to Parera after making a brilliant 177, Abdur Rehman joined an in form Sarfraz Ahmed who played his shots with conviction.
Sarfraz bought up his half century off just 62 balls as he smashed a straight drive off Parera. He and Rehman contributed 29 runs before Sarfraz smashed one off Parera at mid-on to be dismissed on 55. Abdur Rehman took the charge and hit Eranga for 3 consecutive boundaries to take Pakistan's score past 400.
Ajmal and Rehman added some valuable runs down the order with a partnership of 36 runs until Ajmal was caught in the slips giving Parera his 3rd wicket of the match. Rehman's enjoyment at the crease ended after he took Pakistan past 450 and brought up his second career fifty off just 59 balls. Pakistan ended the first innings with a massive total of 451.
Dilruwan Parera was the pick of the bowlers for the Sri Lankan's with figures of 5 for 137.

Evening Session
Sri Lanka's innings suffered an early setback when Junaid Khan struck and removed Upul Tharanga in the 5th over, Sangakkara and Kaushal Silva steadied Sri Lanka after the early loss. Pakistan came close to getting a wicket on a number of occasions when Kaushal Silva edged a few and also missed on a review of Ajmal's bowling which seemed to be hitting the stumps in the replay.
Sangakkara continued his good form this year and against Pakistan to see Sri Lanka to the end of Day 2 without losing anymore wickets.
At Stumps Sri Lanka were 99-1 with Kaushal Silva on 38* and Sangakkara on 36*

Although Pakistani bowlers created chances , they only managed to take one wicket . Sri Lanka would be happy with the start they have but they will need to defy a determined Pakistan bowling attack when play resumes tomorrow morning.
