A PCB official confirmed to PakPassion.net that "the Board was satisfied with Waqar's response and that the matter is now firmly closed and no further action would be taken against Waqar."

The matter surrounding the PCB issuing national coach Waqar Younis a notice for expressing surprise over the board's decision to not name the captain when it announced Pakistan's final squad for the World Cup, is now closed.

Waqar had said it "would have been better" if the selectors had named the captain along with the final 15, and that not doing so "would only lead to issues".

The PCB had previously explained that under its media policy it was binding on all team officials and players to avoid giving statements that questioned or negated the policies of the board.

Waqar though has provided the PCB with a written statement and apologised for the comments and ensured the PCB that this would not happen again in future.
