Despite his wife being ill, coach Waqar Younis has travelled to Pakistan with the majority of the squad today from London, rather than travelling home to Australia.

Differences between Waqar and former captain Shahid Afridi surfaced during the tour of the Caribbean when Afridi was reportedly unhappy with what he saw as Waqar's interference in team selection. A report claimed Afridi almost walked out of a selection meeting ahead of the fourth ODI against West Indies and had to be persuaded by team manager Intikhab Alam to come back.

Afridi hinted at these differences with Waqar when he returned to Pakistan from the West Indies, for which he was issued a showcause notice by the PCB and subsequently was replaced as Pakistan's ODI captain for their tour of Ireland.

A PCB official confirmed to PakPassion.net today that Waqar would be asked for his opinions on what occurred during the tour of the West Indies and asked for his thoughts on events during the troubled one day series.

The official was unable to confirm exactly when the meeting between Waqar and the PCB Chairman would take place, but did state that he would expect the discussions to be held in the next day or two. The official further added that the meeting was extremely important and would provide the PCB with more clarity on what exactly happened in the Caribbean.

Waqar's views will no doubt be gauged by the PCB in conjunction with the manager and coaches report on reported incidents in the West Indies.
