Ghumman speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net ; explained his decision to join SNGPL and how he hopes that the move will kickstart his career.

By Saj Sadiq (10 September 2011)

Former Pakistan Under 19 and Pakistan "A" captain Azeem Ghumman has signed for leading first class team SNGPL.

Ghumman led the Pakistan Under 19s to the final of the World Cup in New Zealand where they fell to the final hurdle against their Australian counterparts.

Hyderabad born Ghumman has played for his home city team since 2007 when he made his debut at the age of 16 and has a first class average of just over 40.

Ghumman speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net ; explained his decision to join SNGPL and how he hopes that the move will kickstart his career.

"I will always remember the great times at Hyderabad and will always be thankful to my team mates and the coaches there. They helped me so much in my development and I learnt so much during my time there. However I thought long and hard about the offer from SNGPL and I thought that is the right time for a change."

"To get the chance to play alongside Misbah ul Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Adnan Akmal and Umar Akmal is a great opportunity and an opportunity that I did not want to miss. I feel that I can learn so much from the aforementioned and it will definitely improve me as a cricketer.

Ghumman explained that whilst the competition to get into the SNGPL side is intense, he feels that playing for a high profile team like SNGPL will raise his profile and increase his chances of playing for Pakistan.

"The aim is to get into the SNGPL starting eleven, score plenty of runs and get into the Pakistan side. It won't be easy but I am confident that I can achieve this. I've set myself some goals that I really want to achieve and I feel that playing for SNGPL is the right thing to do at this stage of my career."
