Majid Khan, Ex CEO of PCB and a former great, confirms to PakPassion.net that he was not approached for the position of new CEO of PCB...

By Saj Sadiq (October 12, 2011)

Former Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Majid Khan has, a short while ago, confirmed to me that despite the rumours and media stories, he was not approached by the PCB to take over from Ijaz Butt as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Cousin of Imran Khan, Majid played 63 Tests for Pakistan, scoring 3,931 runs and made 8 centuries, scored over 27,000 first-class runs and made 73 first-class centuries, with 128 fifties. He played his last test for Pakistan in January 1983 vs India at Lahore and his last ODI was in July 1982 vs England at Manchester.

Khan has been a vociferous critic of previous PCB administrations and in the past launched a scathing attack on the PCB for sacking then senior official Saleem Altaf and its alleged failure to run the game properly.

Majid in 2008 also called for the public accounts committee of the National Assembly to probe the financial affairs of the board and blamed it for increasing indiscipline among players.

Khan stated "No I wasn't approached by the Pakistan Cricket Board for the role of Chairman."

With a sense of intrigue and a wry smile he futher added that "well who knows if I would have accepted the role of Chairman, but there is no point in me talking about it now as the replacement has now been named."

Zaka Ashraf appeared on television today in Pakistan outlining his plans for the role that he is taking on from Ijaz Butt, however there has been no official announcement from the PCB that Ashraf is indeed taking over from Ijaz Butt.
