Whatmore, who has emerged as the main contender for the slot of head coach for Pakistani cricket team, arrived in Lahore on January 14th. On arrival, he met with members of the Committee tasked to choose a head coach for Pakistan, headed by Intikhab Alam.

Former Sri Lankan coach, Dav Whatmore, met Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf, PCB COO Subhan Ahmed and Chief Selector Muhammad here at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Monday.

Whatmore, who has emerged as the main contender for the slot of head coach for Pakistani cricket team, arrived in Lahore on January 14th. On arrival, he met with members of the Committee tasked to choose a head coach for Pakistan, headed by Intikhab Alam.

With both the parties not revealing any concrete plans, Dav Whatmore and Intikhab Alam had a brief media talk after former’s meeting with the PCB Chairman. 

Whatmore said that nothing had been finalized yet and the decision would be made in the current month, “I had a good time staying here in Lahore and had pleasant meeting with the PCB Chairman and a decision on my appointment will be made this month. I will also consult my family and friends over the negotiations made with the PCB on the coaching post”, he added. 

Responding to a question regarding present Pakistan team he said that Pakistan team had the potential and termed coaching the team a test for him, “Pakistan Cricket team doesn’t lack talent and the team has proved this in the past - coaching such a team will be a big challenge”.

He also added that he would try to live up to the expectations attached to him, “If I get this job, I will try my best to fulfill the prospect”.

Whatmore will fly back to Australia this evening after a short stay in the provincial capital, home to the headquarters of PCB.
