A source at the Lahore Eagles speaking to PakPassion.net from Rawalpindi has expressed disappointment at Usman Salahuddin's decision to play in Bangladesh instead of representing Eagels in the Super 8s Faysal Bank T20 tournament.

By Saj Sadiq (27th March, 2012)

Highly rated middle order batsman Usman Salahuddin has opted to go to Bangladesh and play in their ongoing domestic one day league, rather than take part in the Super 8s Faysal Bank Twenty20 tournament that started today in Rawalpindi.

Lahore born Salahuddin has represented Pakistan in 2 one day internationals and is regarded as one of the best young batsmen in Pakistan. A consistent performer in domestic cricket for the Lahore Eagles and Punjab, he has caught the eye of the selection committee despite only being 21 years of age.

Salahuddin also appeared for the PCB XI against England in the UAE ahead of England's Test series against Pakistan. A source at the Lahore Eagles speaking to PakPassion.net from Rawalpindi stated "We are disappointed with Usman, he was going to be one of our key batsmen in the middle order, but he has opted not to play in this tournament. It's his decision at the end of the day."

The source further stated "Usman attended our training camp for one day and then informed the team management that he would be going to Bangladesh rather than travelling with the squad to Rawalpindi. He is a bright young talent but I feel that he has been misadvised regarding this issue. I hope this decision does not backfire and hurt his future. He is a young man and sometimes decisions are made without full thought."

Lahore Eagles face reigning champions Sialkot Stallions on Monday in their opening match.
