Somerset Entertainment Ventures Ltd chairman CEO Sandeep Bhammer has confirmed to PakPassion.net that former Pakistan fast bowling legend and ex Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis was amongst the coaching appointments for next month's inaugural Sri Lankan Premier League.

Somerset Entertainment Ventures Ltd are sponsoring the tournament and Bhammer stated "Waqar (Younis) is one of six appointments that have been finalised regarding the coaching positions, with only Kandurata province yet to finalise who their coach will be. Waqar will be the head coach for the Ruhuna province team."

Bhammer added "We have a couple of local appointments with Duleep Mendis coaching Basnahira and Naveed Nawaz will be head coach for Uva. In addition and to add to the international flavour of the tournament, Australian's Shane Duff will be the head coach for Nagenahira, Tom Moody will coach Utuhura and Trevor Bayliss has been appointed as head coach for Wayamba."

The Sri Lankan Premier League draft was completed yesterday with 56 foreign players picked across the 7 provinces. In addition 107 local players were drafted, however the final squad numbers will be trimmed to 18 per squad, made up of 6 foreign players and 12 local players.

Chris Gayle was the highest valued player at 100,000 USD with Pakistani all rounder Shahid Afridi second highest valued player at 50,000 USD.

The tournament is scheduled to commence on 10th August with the final due to take place on 31st August.
